He Chose Her, I Took Back Everything Chapter 07

Helena’s POV

Once Chloe was gone, I texted my assistant.

“Eyes on Chloe. I want to know every move she makes.”

Caleb was on me the second she was out the door.

“Babe, Chloe’s paying you back herself. So we don’t have to go through with this, right? Just give me one

chance. I’ll fire her today. I’ll never see her again. I’ll hire a male assistant. I swear I won’t cross the line.

Please. One chance.”

Caleb was crying, real tears, ugly and desperate.

I felt nothing. No ache. No pull. Just disgust.

“Can you stop?”

“The moment you let Chloe destroy three of my cars and still took her side, you stopped being worth

keeping.”

“Maybe your loyalty died a long time ago. Maybe it was never real. Maybe from day one, you were just here

for the Voss money.”

“But it doesn’t matter now. We both got what we wanted.”

I looked at him, and there was nothing left in my voice.

“You’re coming home with me. Now. Tell your family to pack their things and get out of my estate. I’m not going to say it twice. Push me, and none of them will like what happens next.”

Caleb stared at me, wounded. “Helena. Did you ever love me?”

“I did. But I don’t anymore.”

I paused. Then I turned it around.

“But here’s what I want to know. Did you think that because we had a bond, because I loved you, you could do

whatever you wanted?”

“You thought my love meant unlimited patience? That I’d just keep looking the other way?”

“You thought if you said sorry, I’d forgive you. Let you keep the Voss name. Let you keep living off everything my family built.”

I let out a breath that was almost a laugh.

“Caleb. You gave yourself too much credit.”

“I loved you because you knew your place. The second you forgot it, my love stopped too. And I can just as easily love someone else.”

Caleb went white. It was finally sinking in. I meant every word.

This wasn’t a tantrum. I wasn’t waiting to be talked down.

He had no cards left to play.

My lawyer filed the severance and divorce papers on the spot. The moment Caleb signed, the Pack Registry froze his consort-mate privileges: mate authorization, Voss Pack access, and every benefit tied to my name.

He signed.

Something cracked open in my chest, the mate bond splitting quietly down the middle. My wolf didn’t whine. She simply turned away.

The second the Pack Registry confirmation came through, Caleb was no longer consort mate of the Voss

Pack.

We drove home in silence.

Back at the estate, Vanessa was already marching toward me.

“Helena. I’m giving you one last chance. Turn the cards back on, or I’ll make sure Caleb rejects you.”

“Too late. I’m the one who doesn’t want him.”

I held up the severance papers. “See this? It’s signed. We’re severed. Your whole family, out. Tonight.”

Vanessa’s eyes went wide. “What? You’re rejecting Caleb?”

I was done with her. I walked past, went up to my room, and locked the door.

Vanessa pounded on the door, screaming. I put on my headphones and let her fade out.

A while later, my phone rang. My assistant.

“Miss Voss. The PI just sent over a recording. You need to hear this.”

I pressed play.

Two voices, Chloe and another girl, someone close to her.

“Chloe, how are you going to pay that kind of money back? We couldn’t earn that in a lifetime!”

Chloe’s voice came through buzzing with barely contained excitement. “Relax. I’ve had a plan for a while

now.”

“What kind of plan?”

“That Phantom. I’m going to offer to give it back to Helena. But before I do, I’ll make a few adjustments to the car. When she drives it home, that’ll be the last drive she ever takes.”

The other girl gasped.

“This way, Mr. Reed doesn’t have to go through with the severance. And he inherits everything Helena has. Legally.”

Chloe giggled.

“And then I marry Mr. Reed. Everything that was Helena’s, it all becomes mine.”

“But how do you make sure she actually drives it?”

“I’ll suggest we meet somewhere parking is impossible. She’ll take a cab. When she gets there, I’ll tell her I’m returning the Phantom. I’ll bring her to pick it up. She’ll have no choice but to drive it home.”

“Aren’t you scared of getting caught?”

Chloe’s voice turned cold. “So what if they find out? She’ll already be gone. Mr. Reed will back my story, and I

walk away clean.”
