I Remarried My Ex And Stopped Loving Him Chapter 05

Jason didn’t come back after that day.

Three days later, Lily started at her new preschool.

I began working on my online shop.

Back when I was street vending, I sold pet clothes and little accessories I made myself.

Business was actually pretty good. Lots of customers told me I should open a real store.

But back then, I waited tables during the day and only had time to sell at night. I

couldn’t make enough inventory.

Now that I had some money, I could finally get it off the ground.

In my previous marriage, I didn’t work, but we had a spare room where I used to sew. I

turned that into my workshop.

I also bought some new equipment to start doing craft livestreams.

When Jason came home, I was just sitting down to eat.

He went into the kitchen and looked around. “You didn’t make anything for me?”

I blinked. “I didn’t think you’d be here.”

He didn’t know what to say to that.

I stood up quickly. “I’ll make you something. Give me a minute.”

While I was washing vegetables, it hit me. I used to cook dinner and wait for him no

matter what. Even if he didn’t show up and the food went to waste.

But today, I’d completely forgotten.

I sighed. I couldn’t let that happen again.

Dinner was quiet.

After a long pause, Jason said, “There was an issue with a project at work. I’ve been

crashing at the office for a few days.”

“Ok.”

I paused, then added, “That sounds rough. I’ll run you a bath.”

He looked at me in silence for a while, then suddenly wiped a hand down his face. His

voice sounded tired.

“You haven’t contacted me in days.”

Before, I couldn’t help myself. I wanted to share everything with him.

I was afraid of bothering him at work, so I didn’t call, I texted. Even if he barely replied, I’d send dozens of messages a day.

But I wasn’t that Jessica Blake anymore. The one whose whole world revolved around

him.

“I didn’t want to get in the way of your work.”

Jason stared at me, his voice taking on an edge I couldn’t quite place. “What did you think I was doing that you’d be interrupting?”

I smiled. “Whatever it was, I shouldn’t bother you.”

Silence fell again.

I cleared the table and went into the kitchen.

Jason followed. “There are a lot of shipping boxes outside. What did you buy?”

I hesitated, then told him the truth. “I opened an online shop. Those are supplies.”

He nodded and didn’t say anything else.

A few minutes later, a notification popped up on my phone. He’d transferred me

another large sum of money.

“Thank you.”

Jason’s hand paused over the fruit platter. “We’re married. My money is your money.

You don’t have to thank me.”

I smiled but didn’t answer.

Jason’s phone rang. Emily’s name lit up the screen.

He looked at me, then answered it right in front of me.

I wasn’t interested in listening. I did the smart thing and went out to the balcony to get

the laundry.

“Emily needs me for something…”

I handed him his jacket. “Go ahead.”

He gave me a long look. “I’ll be back soon.”

Jason had been gone less than five minutes when the preschool teacher called. “Lily’s mother? Lily fell off the slide.”

I rushed to the hospital. The teacher walked me in, saying, “Lily had a disagreement with another kid…”

We reached the exam room door just as she finished speaking.

The other child’s parent was being brought in at the same time.

It was Emily. And Jason.
