I Remarried My Ex And Stopped Loving Him Chapter 04

Emily had her arm around Jason’s waist, leaning into him like she belonged there.

I grabbed them apart, furious, and glared at Jason. “This is working late? Hugging and cuddling with her is working late?”

Emily came over and tried to take my arm. “Mrs. Harrison, I had too much to drink. Please don’t misunderstand…”

I yanked my arm away and shot her a look. “Don’t touch me. Homewrecker.”

I barely pushed her, but she let out a little cry and fell right onto the floor.

“Jessica! What the hell is wrong with you?”

Jason shoved me hard, knocking me aside, then bent down to help Emily up with this worried look on his face. He checked her over like she was injured.

My lower back slammed into the corner of a table. It hurt so much I cried out.

Emily’s eyes were red. She was fighting back tears.

“It’s all my fault. Please don’t fight because of me…”

Jason rushed to comfort her. “This has nothing to do with you. She’s the one losing her mind.”

Then he turned to me, his voice ice-cold. “Jessica, how many times do I have to say this? Emily’s mother asked me to take care of her on her deathbed. That was her dying wish.”

“Do you have any idea how hard it is for her to raise a kid by herself? You’re a woman. How can you be so cruel? Calling her a homewrecker?”

The way he looked at me was cold. Almost disgusted.

“My patience isn’t endless. Get yourself together.”

“Don’t make me regret marrying you.”

The second the words left his mouth, my ears started ringing.

I stared at him in disbelief.

I wanted to say, “I’m your wife. How can you take her side?”

I wanted to say, “Emily shows off and provokes me every single time. Don’t you see it?”

I wanted to tell him what she’d really said on the phone just now.

But something caught in my throat. All I could get out was, “Then let’s get a divorce.”

The moment I said it, I felt this huge sense of relief.

I didn’t even care about the smug look on Emily’s face.

Jason blinked, then let out a sarcastic laugh. “Jessica, is divorce your only move? Is your whole life just picking fights over jealousy?”

Then he put his arm around Emily and walked away.

That night, I sat in the living room until dawn.

I only realized something was wrong when Lily started screaming. There was blood all over my legs.

The second baby, the one that had been growing inside me without me even knowing, slipped away just as quietly as it had come.

One week later, Jason and I signed the divorce papers. I got custody of Lily.

Not long after that, my father’s company ran into trouble. Several of his projects got stolen out from under him. In just six months, he had to file for bankruptcy.

He had a heart attack and was hospitalized. They tried to save him a few times, but he still died.

I used what was left to pay off the employees. I went from being a rich man’s daughter to a single mom living in Oakhaven Trailer Park.

Lily suffered because of me.

I cried myself to sleep so many nights, wishing I could take it all back.

This time, I wasn’t going to fight with anyone over Jason.

If giving Lily and me a good life meant letting him have ten different Emilys, I’d look the other way.
