I Was Supposed to Attack the Hockey Captain, Then He Cried in My Arms Chapter 10

I was confused.

I had not done anything.

Julian had fallen on the grass, which was soft, so even the ointment did not come into use.

But neither the system nor I could care about that anymore.

After apologizing in a hurry, I went off to review everything with the system.

The system panicked.

[How could Caelan’s Humiliation Points have such a huge bug?]

I panicked even more.

“Then you won’t take the money back, right?”

The system went silent.

When I returned to the classroom, Caelan was not there.

A few minutes later, he stepped in.

I looked up at him.

He looked like he had just woken up.

His eyes were a little red, and half of his face was still swollen.

He looked both handsome and pitiful.

I swallowed and asked, “Is your face better?”

Caelan gave a faint “Mm” and sat back down.

When Julian came again to borrow notes, I handed them to him and still could not help saying, “Sorry about what happened earlier, Julian.”

He smiled slightly.

“It’s fine. Next time you run, wear shoes without laces. Otherwise, if you fall into someone else’s arms, they might not catch you as well as I did.”

I was mortified.

Still, I repeated the awful idea the system had given me.

“Do you want to… walk back together after class?”

We lived in the same dorm building.

At the start of freshman year, we had walked back together before.

But by sophomore year, Julian was always surrounded by too many people. I did not like joining the crowd, so I always walked alone.

Julian froze.

I somehow felt the pressure around me drop again.

“Sure. I’ll wait for you at the academic building entrance.”

I nodded and watched Julian’s back as I sighed.

Kind Julian still did not know that after class, he might be kicked into a ditch by me.

For the whole day, Caelan lay beside me in the same position without moving.

Before, he at least made time for the restroom.

Today, he was as quiet as a corpse.

I looked at him several times.

In the end, I still could not bear it and whispered, “Are you feeling sick, Caelan?”

He ignored me.

He seemed to be in a terrible mood.

Thinking of how that man had gritted his teeth while hitting him earlier, I stopped talking.

When class ended, Julian was still surrounded by people.

He turned and glanced in my direction.

Our eyes met.

I understood he planned to wait for me at the door, so I sped up and packed my backpack.

I carried my backpack out of the academic building.

Julian had already disappeared from sight.

I lifted my foot, about to follow.

The next second, the world spun.

I was about to scream when I realized the person pulling me was Caelan, who had slept all day.

He dragged me to the corner near the training room.

This place was far from the academic building, and the empty hallway held only the two of us.

“Cae… Caelan.”

I did not know what was wrong with him.

But looking at the pink around his eyes, I still stammered, “Why did you bring me here?”

Caelan lowered his head to look at me.

Stormy emotions rolled in his eyes.

“Elara Vance, you’re messing with me on purpose, aren’t you?”

I blinked, confused.

The guy slowly lowered his head.

Up close, Caelan’s eyes looked even redder.

He raised his thumb and rubbed the corner of my eye, carrying a hint of anger.

“You trained me into a dog, and now you’re going to provoke someone else? Aren’t you afraid I’ll bite you to death?”

My brain crashed.

My face grew hotter and hotter.

What was he even saying?

“I did not!” I denied instantly.

Caelan tugged the corner of his mouth.

“You’ve been touching me all over every day. Pinching me, rubbing against me, and you’re saying you didn’t?”

My mouth opened.

I had no idea how to explain it.

The system made me do it.

Caelan pulled my hand and placed it on his hard chest.

“My heart hurts like hell. Try twisting it.”

The chest beneath my palm was solid and full.

His violent heartbeat pounded into my hand, then traveled up my wrist and into my own chest.
