“Just a Freak Show, Don’t Be Dramatic” Chapter 01 Don’t Waste Time on Her

Just 24 hours before my promotion to hospital director, over a dozen patients’ relatives kidnapped me.

Stripped bare and chained up, I was thrown into their sick, twisted freak show.

A hammer came down on my legendary hands, turning them into bloody meat.

And then, those sick bastards had the nerve to fake it as a beast attack.

When the cops finally found me, three knives were still stuck in my body.

My husband and brother went completely crazy.

Seeing my bloody mess, they dropped to their knees and sobbed like their hearts were breaking.

But the second I got into the ambulance, I heard my husband on the phone outside.

“If Willow is ready, just take her to the hospital and get the kidney.”

My brother sounded so nervous.

“Wait, didn’t you say we were just gonna scare her into giving it up? Why is she so messed up?”

My husband didn’t even care.

“I told them to do it. I’m her husband. I’ll deal with it.”

How could you?

You treated me like a bag for a kidney.

You had people beat me until I wasn’t human anymore.

“Axel, the doctor said if we don’t fix my sister’s wounds, she’s gonna have to wear a pee bag forever.”

Dylan Scott sounded a bit nervous.

But Axel Lewis didn’t even care.

His voice was dead cold.

“Who cares? Willow is what matters. She’s been waiting at the hospital for so long, she must be dying to see us.”

Hearing that name, Dylan instantly dropped the act.

“Willow must be so scared all alone in that surgery room.”

Axel spoke again, “I broke her hands. She can’t compete with Willow for the director position anymore.”

Dylan’s voice sounded so happy. “Aww, really? I’ll go plan a nice party, and take Willow out to celebrate.”

I was in the ambulance, hurting so much I thought I was gonna die.

Willow Gray was the purest love for Axel and Dylan.

But let’s be real, she was the one who left a hemostat inside the patient during surgery.

She didn’t dare face the fallout, so she ran overseas and dumped all the mess on me.

How did it end up being my fault?

Even while trapped in a freak show, being tortured and degraded, I never let a single tear fall.

Yet right now, listening to the voices outside, I bit down hard on the soft flesh inside my mouth.

I was desperately trying to hold back the whimpers in my throat.

It turned out that the people I considered my family only wanted to shatter my bones.

They wanted to strip my flesh away, inch by inch, to nourish another girl.

Thinking about how angry and sad they looked when they broke in, I just feel so stupid now.

I grabbed the doctor’s hand, begging her to help me.

But this whole hospital belongs to Axel.

She just looked at me coldly and put me to sleep.

Everything was getting blurry. The ambulance was rushing so fast.

But somehow, I woke up just before the surgery.

A doctor was talking outside.

“Mr. Lewis, she’s too weak. The anesthesia might kill her before we can even take the kidney.”

Axel’s cruel voice came from outside.

“Then don’t use anesthesia. Take the kidney while she’s awake.”

The doctor hesitated.

“I meant… she still needs the wounds on her body treated first.”

Axel’s impatient voice came through the door, piercing my heart.

“She’s just a container for Willow’s kidney. Don’t waste time on her.”

Dylan’s panicked voice followed.

“I’ll do it myself. Willow can’t wait any longer!”

The drugs made me so groggy. I tried hard to open my eyes.

Someone in surgical scrubs walked in.

It was Dylan.

He chose medicine to follow my path.

I taught him how to operate so many times.

But now, for Willow’s sake, he was about to cut into me.

He didn’t hesitate for a second. His hands were fast and steady.

I couldn’t lift my arms, but I felt the tearing pain ripping through my waist.

The pain was so blinding that everything went black. I let out scream after scream.

A bone-deep chill washed over me, and my body trembled violently.

The freezing blade glided inside me, taking a piece of me away without a second thought.

I instinctively reached out to struggle, but he didn’t hesitate to slap my hand away.

The pain was too much, and I passed out.

When I opened my eyes again, all I could see was the white ceiling.

I heard things crashing to the floor.

“Why isn’t my sister awake yet! A bunch of idiots!”

I struggled to move my hand, and instantly, a pair of bloodshot eyes locked onto mine.

It was Axel.

Two tears dropped down his face.

“You’ve suffered. I swear, I won’t let anyone who hurt you get away with it.”

Dylan also threw himself at the bedside in a split second, choking up as he said, “Faye, you’re finally awake. I’ll get justice for you, I promise.”

Ridiculous. Almost funny.

I just watched them, a silent tear falling.

Without knowing what they really said, I would have believed every word.

I would have thought that through all this agony, my husband and brother still loved me.

I would have thought they really did.
