My Roommate Stole My Past-Life Hack—I’ll Just Smile at Her Regret Chapter 04

“Natalie!”

Jasmine’s face flushed red, and she shrieked like a kettle about to whistle.

I could not be bothered with her. I turned to Lucy, who had just finished blow-drying her hair. “Lucy, don’t you know a really impressive upperclassman in computer science? Could you send me his contact? I need his help with something.”

“Oh, you mean Mason Brooks? Sure. I’ll text him first.”

The second Lucy pulled out her phone, Jasmine perked right up. “Lucy, don’t you have a crush on Mason Brooks? And you’re really going to hand him over to Natalie? Aren’t you worried she’ll steal your guy?”

Having her feelings exposed in public, Lucy’s pale cheeks flushed pink, and she looked at the two of us awkwardly.

The only reason I had not dealt with Jasmine before was that I did not want to waste my precious time on someone like her.

But the second she started getting in the way of my business, all bets were off.

I picked up my water cup and splashed it straight across her pretty face. “Can you rinse off that boy-crazy brain of yours?”

Her eyes flew wide. She froze for a few seconds before finally reacting, then lunged at me with her nails out, tripped over a table leg, and crashed hard onto the floor.

“Ah!”

With water dripping down her face, Jasmine called our department’s student advisor in the middle of the night and woke him up to demand justice.

Rubbing her bruised knee, she put on a pitiful expression. “Sir, Natalie is bullying me in the dorm. She threw water on me on purpose and shoved me to the ground. Look at my knee. It’s all bruised up.”

In my last life, Jasmine had been very close to the student advisor. Every award nomination list our class submitted to the department always included her, which stirred up a lot of resentment.

People said his judgment had been completely clouded, but I was the only one who knew the real reason.

Our department’s student advisor was a man.

Jasmine was so furious with me that she instinctively assumed he would take her side the way he always had before, forgetting that in this life, she had chosen the blue pill.

Dragged out of bed, the advisor called both of us into his office. Exhaustion weighed heavily in his voice. “Natalie, what happened?”

I put on an apologetic expression. “I’m really sorry for disturbing you, sir. It was all a misunderstanding. I accidentally knocked over my water and spilled it on Jasmine. When she stood up, she tripped and fell on her own. I thought it was a small thing, so I really don’t know why she got this upset.”

Jasmine let out a piercing scream. “You did it on purpose! I can call the other roommates to prove it!”

I met the advisor’s eyes and nudged his goodwill toward me ever so slightly upward. “Sir, how about this? You should head back and get some rest. I’ll apologize to Jasmine.”

The advisor yawned and nodded with satisfaction. “It’s just roommate drama. Nothing serious. Go back.”

He rose to his feet, clearly ushering us out. “Jasmine, try being the bigger person. Don’t make trouble over every little thing with your classmates.”

“Sir, you…” Jasmine started to say more, but the moment she met his impatient look, she abruptly fell silent.

On the way back to the dorm, she shot me a venomous glance. “Natalie, you’re despicable. Just wait.”

Jasmine’s complete unraveling put me in an excellent mood.

Some people think they are the only ones allowed to use privilege to profit at other people’s expense.

What I had done did not amount to even one ten-thousandth of what she had done in my last life, and she was already grinding her teeth in rage.

Honestly, she deserved it.
