My Dad Chose My Aunt 10 Times, Unaware I Stripped His Billion Legacy Chapter 09

The Whitmore inheritance gala drew the entire elite of the city.

Those faces that once looked down on me, pitied me, or ignored me entirely were now filled with

flattery and praise.

“Miss Whitmore, you’re truly a prodigy!”

“Under your leadership, the Whitmore family is destined for even greater glory!”

“Exactly! And the youngest heir in Whitmore history, no less!”

“I heard your mother, Ms. Bennett, came from an elite academic background. No wonder you’re so

outstanding!”

Compliments flowed endlessly through the air.

No one breathed a word about the man who had betrayed my

mother.

Just as the banquet was about to end-a sudden scream rang out from the crowd.

“Oh my God! Nathaniel is dead! He and his wife fell from a building and died together!”

A businessman who had barely slipped into the event shouted the news.

He quickly lowered his voice under the stunned gazes around him,

All eyes turned toward me.

Suspicion flickered among them.

But I only played the part-a child grieving a distant, estranged father.

My face showed a brief, controlled flash of shock and disbelief.

Then I excused myself politely and left the venue.

By the time the car stopped in front of the villa where I once lived as a child

I saw two bodies that could no longer be separated.

A crowd had gathered behind the police tape, pointing and murmuring.

“I heard that woman was locked up-tortured until she lost her mind. Finally stole a key and tried

to run.”

“But Nathaniel grabbed hold of her. She kept hitting him, but he wouldn’t let go. They struggled and fell together.”

“Tragic, really… but then again, they had it coming. Neither of them was any good.”

After everything was confirmed to have nothing to do with me, I calmly received the death

certificates.

And had them buried at Serenity Hills, per the family charter.

A single grave. After all, those two were inseparable-even in death.

As I left the cemetery, the sea wind brushed against my face.

It felt like a gentle hand touching my cheek.

For a moment, I thought I saw Mom’s soft smile.

That night, I slept very well.

I dreamed of her-she’d never come to me in a dream before.

She held me, just like that rainy night all those years ago.

“Vivi, Mom has to go now.”

Her embrace was still warm.

Her voice still soft.

“Take care of yourself. Don’t skip meals, and try to get some sleep.”

As she dissolved into a scatter of light, I heard the smile in her voice.

“Mom will be happy in another world too.”

“And I’ll always, always love you.”

Her figure scattered like wind.

I woke with a start.

Outside the window, the moon was gentle-quietly laying the past to rest.

And my new life… was waiting to begin.
