The Silver Moon Princess Returns: The Alpha Begins to Regret Chapter 08

I returned to my parents with Jason.

They were waiting for me outside the airport the night our plane landed. The second I laid eyes on them, tears welled up in my eyes.

They hurried over and pulled me into a tight embrace.

“Don’t be afraid, Emily. We’ll always have your back, no matter what.”

I nodded frantically, but seeing their aged faces, I couldn’t hold back my tears anymore.

I had been so foolish to give my heart to a man who only spoke empty promises of love.

“Thank you, Jason. Thank you for bringing Emily back safely.”

My parents already knew everything I had been through. If not for him, I wouldn’t have survived.

“That dishonorable fool will soon learn exactly why the SilverMoon Pack has always reigned supreme.” My father’s expression turned hard, and a murderous glint flashed across his gaze. He was truly furious.

“I can’t let you do that,” Jason said. “Daniel is already marked for destruction by the MoonLight Pack. I will not yield this target to another Alpha.”

His tone was light, but I could feel the anger beneath it.

“Jason, you don’t need to sacrifice so much for my sake,” I said softly.

“Yes, I do. If I’m going to be your mate one day, then I will be the one to destroy him.”

Jason looked at me seriously, then took my hand and pressed a gentle kiss to the back of it.

“Don’t worry, my princess. Anyone who dare to tarnish your dignity and crown will be eliminated.”

He left soon after.

The next time I heard about Jason was in the news. He had bought out Daniel’s company and cast him out of the pack. Daniel was now a rogue with nowhere to go.

Half a month later, I saw Jason at the airport. He looked as striking as ever.

“Your knight has returned victorious.”

I smiled, and he smiled back.

After that, Jason and I started dating. A month later, I was waiting outside a movie theater for him—he had gone to buy me ice cream.

Then someone I never expected appeared in front of me. It was Daniel.

He looked like a destitute vagrant, his clothes tattered and filthy. He shuffled unsteadily toward me, his eyes bloodshot.

“Emily… is it really you? You’re not dead… are you? Why did you fake your death?”

He reached out, desperate to touch me. I stepped back on instinct,

my voice calm and distant.

“The Emily you knew died a long time ago.”

His eyes filled with tears, and his voice cracked.

“I’m so sorry, Emily. I never meant to hurt you, I swear! I only acted out to discipline you, nothing more! I didn’t know how much I loved you until I lost you. Please come back with me. I’m begging you.”

Just then, a warm arm wrapped around my shoulder. I turned and saw Jason, his face full of care and protectiveness. He gave Daniel a cold look, his voice firm and unyielding.

“She’s with me now. You had your chance, and you blew it.”

Jason took my hand and led me away, shielding me as we walked.

Daniel was stunned speechless by the fact that I was alive. He shouted after Jason’s retreating figure.

“No! She’s my mate! How dare you take her from me?! You’ve ruined everything I had—why take her too?”

Jason stopped and turned around, his gaze sharp and piercing.

“What right? You held her as your mate for years and did nothing but break her. You never gave her an ounce of safety or happiness. You discarded her first. I did not steal what you already abandoned.”

The brutal truth knocked the wind right out of him. His legs gave way, and he collapsed heavily to the floor. He buried his face in his hands and wept bitterly.

I didn’t look back. There was no one left worth turning back for.

A moment later, a sharp crash echoed in the distance. I never found out who was in that accident. All I know is that Daniel never appeared before me again.

As for Jason and me? We finally found the peaceful, happy life I had always wanted.
