Luna Returned for Vengeance Chapter 07

Nora’s POV

Lucian Vale slipped off his coat and wrapped it around me. The next second, he lifted me into his

arms.

The familiar cool scent of cedar enveloped me completely. His Alpha scent. My mate’s scent.

In that moment, the lingering dread in my chest finally faded away. I felt safe.

“Honey…” I buried my face in his chest and sobbed.

Lucian looked down at me. His gaze swept over my swollen cheek, the fresh scratches on my skin

and the blistered burns on my arm. The warmth in his eyes drained away, little by little-but he kept his voice soft.

“I’m sorry, baby. I’m late.”

Then a cold voice cut through the air.

“What’s going on here?”

I looked up. Ethan was hurrying toward us. When he saw me curled against Lucian’s chest, his steps

faltered. His brow furrowed.

Lucian shot a cold glance at him and Victor.

“You abducted my mate. She is an officially registered mate with the Pack Hall. You held her

against her will, failed to notify her legal mate, attempted to administer a sedative, and plotted to lock her away in a private facility—including a psychiatric ward. Every one of these crimes

warrants a hearing before the Central Pack Council. Now explain yourselves.”

Victor sneered.

“An explanation? You’re in no position to demand an explanation from me”

But Ethan had gone pale. Because he recognized the man.

Lucian Vale. The head of Vale Capital. The youngest top-tier Alpha on the North American Pack Business Council. He held a voting seat on cross-pack alliances. He was the high-profile client their pack law firm had spent years courting, yet never managed to secure a connection with.

Ethan had never imagined Lucian Vale would show up here. And he certainly never imagined Lucian would call me his mate.

Then Ethan caught it-the cedar scent on my skin. Lucian’s mate scent. That wasn’t something a

contract, a staged photo, or a lie could fake.

Ethan stepped forward, his face dark.

“Mr. Vale. If you’re merely intervening out of kindness, such baseless assertions are unnecessary”

The air went still.

Lucian let out a quiet, humorless laugh. He pulled out his phone and unlocked it.

The lock screen was a mate ceremony photo. Me in a white dress, smiling. Lucian behind me, arms around my waist, lips pressed to the top of my head. His eyes brimmed with overwhelming tenderness-nothing like the cold, hard man standing here now.

Lucian looked up, his voice like ice.

“Nora is my lawful wife. My legal mate, registered at the Pack Hall. Who granted you the audacity to

harm my mate?”

Ethan stood frozen, staring at the photo. Even now, he couldn’t seem to believe it. That I was married. That the Nora he’d dismissed as a liar, a fake, a nuisance-was actually Lucian Vale’s

mate.

Lucian was done wasting words on their futile denials. He put the phone away.

“Since you refuse to cooperate, you’ll answer to the Pack Precinct instead.”

No sooner had he spoken than several uniformed New York Pack officers rushed in and walked

straight up to Victor.

“Victor Lang. You need to come with us for questioning.”

Victor’s face flickered with panic.

“Do you know who I am? Nobody in New York would dare lay a finger on me.”

Lucian let out a soft scoff. His gaze dripped with contempt, as if he were staring at something

worthless.

“Is that right? That rule ends effective today”

Victor’s face went white. The men who had been holding me down dropped their heads, barely daring to breathe.

Lucian’s Alpha aura pressed down on the entire garage, suffocating. Even Ethan stood rooted to the

spot, his expression dark and uneasy.

Lucian ignored them all. He looked down at me, and his voice softened again.

“Baby. You don’t have to be afraid anymore. I’m taking you home.”

I stared up at him through blurred tears.

Lucian lifted me into his arms and carried me toward the car. But just as the door was about to

close, Ethan called out, “Nora!”

I had never witnessed him lose his composure like this.
