I shrugged and gestured for them to leave.

Brynn stormed out, Grant dragging her. I could still hear her yelling at me even from far away. Then a loud

slap.

She left crying. I figured she’d understand what I meant eventually.

Three days later, Grant came back with an equity transfer agreement, begging me to return.

The Hayes were already gutted. The hidden players had shown their hands one by one.

Derek Porter saw me and charged over. “What are you doing here, Sloane? You have nothing to do with this

company anymore.”

Grant pushed him aside. “Sloane’s here to buy us out.”

“We’re done for.”

Derek looked shocked. “Buy us out? With what? She’s a nobody who got kicked out of the family. Some little

girl?”

I snorted. “I don’t have the money. But the Suttons do.”

Brynn’s hands curled into fists. “That was supposed to be my engagement!”

“But they don’t want you. They want me.”

I patted her cheek. “Brynn, you still don’t get it, do you? The Hayes are at this level because of me, Sloane

Hayes.”

“I decide who’s a top-tier family. Right now, I decide whether you live or die. So back off.”

Brynn stumbled back two steps. Derek shut his mouth.

I brought my team in and a week later, the acquisition was complete.

It wasn’t even that hard. I just folded everything into my own name, and that let me bring back all the projects

I’d moved out.

From left pocket to right pocket, it all became mine. My actual controlling share of the company hit eighty

percent.

After the merger, everyone was celebrating. I noticed Brynn sneaking away. I sent someone to follow her

A few minutes later, Derek left too. They met in the stairwell and started fighting.

“You said bringing me back would let me live the good life. Now everything’s changed! All my money is

gone!”

Derek was furious. “Because you’re useless! She gets it done, why can’t you?”

“She makes one phone call and MC scrambles to work with her. You’re a waste of time. I never should have brought you back. I shouldn’t have switched you in the first place.”

Brynn exploded. “You switched me! You made me live in the country all those years, treated me like dirt, while that clown got to be the princess? I’ll tear your face off!”

She lunged at him, and they started clawing at each other.

But they forgot about the security camera in the stairwell.

The whole thing was broadcast live to the party.

Grant and his wife lost it. They ran to the third-floor stairwell, and Grant slapped Derek right across the face.

Derek was stunned. “You hit me?”

Paige stepped up. “You switched my daughter! You took my baby! Why?”

Brynn stood there frozen.

All four of them brawled until the police showed up and ended it.

At the station, I found out the truth. Derek had been jealous of his older brother’s business success, his good

wife, his child.

Grant’s life was just too perfect. So Derek found a baby girl in the countryside and switched them. He wanted to watch his own niece suffer in poverty. It made him feel better.
