After the Real Heiress Came Home, the Fake One Went on a Killing Spree Chapter 01

I’m not the real Hayes heiress.

When they finally found the real daughter, she was skinny and dark-skinned. My parents felt guilty, so they offered her some money.

“I’m the real Hayes. If you want to make things right, give me the company instead.”

My whole family told me, “You’re not Hayes. You should give her back the spot.”

I smiled and nodded, and handed everything over.

The next day, the company’s biggest client, the core tech team, and every single distributor all announced they would only work with me personally.

My parents panicked and came begging me to come back.

I crossed my arms. “Tell Brynn Hayes to come beg me to return.”

When Brynn Hayes was found, she stood in the foyer looking nervous and shy.

I had just landed the MC deal.

On my way back, my assistant told me the Hayes’ biological daughter had been found.

My heart pounded for a second, then settled. Fine, let them find her. The Hayes had money.

But I didn’t expect this real daughter to see me walk in, looking polished and successful, and turn that shyness into jealousy.

“If you want me to come back,” she said, “she’s had my place long enough. I want it back. I don’t want anything else. Just the company.”

I laughed. “I’ve run this family company for ten years. You sure you can do it?”

I didn’t bother hiding my contempt. Brynn’s face went red. “I can learn. If I’d grown up here, I wouldn’t be any worse than you.

The relatives all started in. “Sloane, just give it to her. She’s the real Hayes, after all.”

I looked at my parents. My dad struggled to get the words out. “Sloane, we owe her. Brynn’s had it really hard.”

My mom Paige Hayes hugged Brynn, sobbing. “Those damn traffickers tried to force her to marry some old man. If we hadn’t found her, Brynn would already be…”

“Sloane, please agree to this. Mom won’t treat you badly.”

I looked at them and smiled. “Fine.”

I agreed. I’d start the handover right away.

I had planned to just do my best even after the real daughter came back. I never wanted to compete with her.

I even felt bad for her. I ordered her a gift.

But I didn’t expect this kind of welcome.

Compensation? Fine. I don’t want any of it.

I had my assistant draft the handover form on the spot. I signed everything over to her.

Brynn was so excited she threw herself into my mom’s arms.

I took a deep breath. “All done. If there’s nothing else, I’m going upstairs to rest.”

My mom finally looked up. “Brynn just came back. Let’s have a family dinner.”

“I’m tired. I don’t feel like eating.”

Brynn’s eyes were red as she stared at me. “What, you just don’t want to see me? I just got back and you’re already shutting me out.”

My mom frowned. “Sloane! Why are you being so difficult?”

I said flatly, “I just got off a twenty-hour flight. I’m exhausted. I haven’t even gotten over the jet lag yet.”

Only then did she remember—I had come straight from a business trip.

She saw my bloodshot eyes and looked a little embarrassed.

I went straight upstairs and ignored the noise downstairs.

But the family group chat kept blowing up.

I took a shower, glanced at it, and laughed to myself.

“Brynn’s back. So, big brother, when are you throwing the welcome-home party? This is a huge deal for the family!”

“Yeah, go all out. Announce the company transfer while you’re at it. Oh, and Sloane shouldn’t still be living in the house, right? And the engagement—shouldn’t we be rethinking that?”

Most of the petty digs I didn’t care about. But that last line I couldn’t ignore.

The Hayes had a marriage contract with the Suttons.

If I wasn’t a Hayes anymore… what would Cole Sutton think?

The messages kept scrolling. I got bored and left the chat.

According to them, I wasn’t a Hayes anymore, so I didn’t belong in the group. I’d leave on my own before they had to say it.

But I still needed to talk to Cole.

The next morning, Brynn left with my parents. I packed a few things and headed to my own place.
