I Called Myself Ten Years Later—and Exposed My Cheating Boyfriend Chapter 05

“What?” Julian stepped back. “That’s impossible.”

I almost smiled. “Tell me what part of that is impossible.”

I’d been at the top of our class since freshman year. Even my teachers said Bramford was basically a lock as long as I didn’t tank my final GPA.

“Or are you disappointed Audrey didn’t get it instead?”

Julian went pale. “Chloe, that’s not what I meant.”

“I don’t care what you meant. Move. You’re blocking me.” I brushed his hand off and headed

downstairs.

He must’ve been dying to check his own scores, because he didn’t follow me.

That night, the class group chat blew up.

[Chloe, I just saw you on the news!]

[Congrats, valedictorian!]

[I can officially say I went to school with the valedictorian. That’s going on my résumé, lol.]

The messages kept flooding in. Julian and Audrey were the only two who said nothing.

Maya noticed. She’d already messaged me privately when Julian started posting travel photos with

Audrey. She was the first person in our class to know we’d broken up.

She probably tagged them on purpose, just to stir the pot on my behalf.

[So the valedictorian’s boyfriend and best friend aren’t going to say anything? Not today, of all days?]

Audrey stayed silent. Julian finally replied with one word.

[Congratulations.]

[Thanks, everyone. But Julian and I broke up.]

[Whatever’s going on between him and Audrey is none of my business.]

I sent the messages and closed the app. I didn’t stick around to watch the fallout.

My mom got home a few minutes later and leaned into my doorway like she had gossip. “Guess what happened to Julian upstairs?”

“What happened?” I asked, already knowing.

My mom was practically buzzing. “He checked his scores and completely bombed. We’re talking so low that any decent school would rescind his acceptance. His whole family’s losing it.”

“They’re saying someone must’ve tampered with his test. They want to call the College Board and demand a review. The whole building could hear them. Everyone was loving it.”

I smiled a little.

If I hadn’t found the disappearing–ink pens, that would’ve been me. I’d be the one with a ruined score, the one screaming about tampering, the one the whole building was laughing at.

A chill ran through me just thinking about it.

“I was going to throw you a party to celebrate.”

“But let’s hold off until your official college enrollment goes through.”

“People get jealous. I don’t want anyone messing things up for you before it’s official.”

She had a point. I went straight to my computer and changed my student portal password.

I’d always been lazy about that kind of thing. Julian used to keep track of all my passwords.

My parents were on high alert until the final deadline. No visitors, no drama. Every morning, the first thin did was log in and make sure nothing had been changed.

e passed. We made it.
