His Dead Lover Came Back I Asked for Overtime Pay Chapter 07

The assistant’s words landed like a bombshell, shattering the tension.

Zachary laughed in disbelief.

He walked down the stairs slowly, his leather shoes thudding against the wood, each step grinding on my

nerves.

He stopped in front of the assistant.

“My brother’s exact words?”

Zachary smirked, but his eyes were cold. “You’re just a dog working for the Collins family – how dare you

come here and take someone from me?”

The assistant didn’t flinch.

“I work for Mr. Collins. He said that now that Miss Parker has been claimed by him, it wouldn’t be right for her to stay with you. Besides, Miss Moore is still waiting for you.”

The mention of Lynn made Zachary’s anger stall for a moment.

In that distraction, the assistant pulled out his phone, dialed a number, and put it on speaker.

Two rings, then the call was answered.

“Did you get her?” Ethan’s cool voice filled the quiet room.

“Yes, Mr. Collins. Miss Parker’s things are packed. But the second young heir seems reluctant to let her go.”

A soft laugh came through.

“Zachary,” Ethan said, “at the restaurant today, you told Lynn yourself that she’s my little pet. Now that Lynn is back, are you really going to keep your brother’s woman? What would people say about your devotion to

Lynn?”

Right in the weak spot. Ethan knew his brother perfectly.

Zachary’s face turned purple.

He glared at the phone, his chest heaving. “Brother, don’t push it. You know she means something to me…”

“I don’t care about your feelings. I care about results,” Ethan cut him off coldly. “Since you can’t handle your

own life, don’t blame me for cleaning up. Chloe, come here.”

I startled.

Without thinking, I looked up and saw Zachary’s blazing eyes.

He reached for my wrist again.

But I was faster.

I jumped back, grabbed my suitcase, and sprinted behind the assistant.

“Mr. Zachary, I’m sorry, but Mr. Collins is calling me.” I poked my head out, forced a couple of fake tears, and

put on my pitiful act.

“I wish you and Miss Moore a lifetime of happiness.”

Then I turned, pushed my suitcase, and ran out of the penthouse without looking back.

The night wind hit my face – and I could feel Zachary’s murderous glare burning into my back.

So what?

The big boss signed my paychecks.
