Chloe dragged me along as she talked. “Just come take one look. If I go alone, it’s too obvious. With you, we can just pretend we’re passing by!”

Then she noticed Liam beside me, and her eyes lit up even more.

“Senior Liam is here too? Perfect. You have to come with us!”

Liam glanced at me with a hint of amusement and fell into step beside us. “Looks like we don’t have a choice.”

Under Chloe’s near-forceful grip, we soon arrived at MIT’s sprawling main lawn.

Sure enough, a small crowd had already gathered in one corner, mostly girls, whispering and pointing toward the center.

“See him? Over there!” Chloe lowered her voice, practically vibrating with excitement.

I looked in the direction she was pointing. Through the crowd, I could only see a tall, straight back.

“How can you tell he’s handsome from his back?” I said, exasperated.

“Presence.” Chloe gave me a look that said I clearly didn’t get it. “Look at his posture. He’s definitely had training.”

Training.

The word was a small, sharp prick.

My steps faltered.

A bad feeling bloomed in the pit of my stomach.

“Let’s get closer!” Chloe didn’t notice my hesitation and pulled me forward into the crowd.
