Betrayed During the Mating Ceremony Chapter 04

Betrayed During the Mating Ceremony Chapter 04

Elias publicized the photos of my assault.

He hired trolls to spread the lie that I had been unfaithful before the marriage, that my character was questionable.

He claimed the mating ceremony video was fake—revenge for my betrayal. He insisted he and Morwen were innocent. The shameless one, he said, was me.

A single stone stirred a thousand waves. Under his guidance, curses and accusations crashing down. After the outrage ferment,he froze my cards. At midnight, I was thrown out, left to wander.

The early spring was cold. But harder than the chill were the mocking stares.

“Look, isn’t that Isabella Hayes? The one online?”

“Wandering at night—not a decent girl .”

“Maybe she’s lonely, itching for a man. Should we keep her company?”

Drunk men approached. I sensed danger, tried to leave, but one blocked my path.

“What’s the rush? Still playing to get?” he sneered. “Everyone knows. Don’t act pure now.”

As they closed in, I braced, fearing a repeat of the nightmare.

Suddenly, a figure stepped between us. Elias threw a punch, scattering them. Then he slapped me hard.

“Isabella, do you get off on making a cuckold of me?” he snarled. “I told you I’d let the past go.Get along with Morwen, and I wouldn’t treat you badly. Why can’t you bend? From today,no more indulgence. You’re coming home to reflect!”

He shoved me into the passenger seat. Dazed, my vision swam. In the back, Morwen adjusted her clothes, showing fresh love bites, her gaze sliding to Elias.

“Elias, you’re so mean,” she pouted. “You promised to play all night tonight. Liar.”

Elias glanced at me, then turned and pinched her cheek. “My bad. I’ll get you a limited edition bag tomorrow.”

“I want her style,” Morwen chirped. “And I want the master bedroom!” She leaned close, whispering. “Let’s relive last night in the master bedroom. Doing it in front of her, exciting.”

Their talk turned my stomach. I couldn’t suppress dry heaves.

The sound seemed ignite his fury. He glared, patience gone. “Isabella, what’s wrong with you? I’ve been tolerating you. Why won’t you yield? The lessons haven’t been enough.”

He flung open the car door, pushed me out. “Since you don’t know what’s good, stay here and think.See how long your pride lasts without me!”

Unprepared,I fell hard, the pavement scraping a gash into my arm.He didn’t glance back. He hit the gas and sped away.

The sun rose. It was the day and time of my appointment.

Limping, I made my way to the hospital and went through the procedure. From then, nothing tethering me to him.

The doctor, seeing my state, asked if I needed help. “No,” I said. I would repay him in my own way.

As my plane took off, the gift I’d arranged for Elias was delivered.

It was his new product launch day. He stood with Morwen, basking in applause. But when he opened the box, his froze as if struck .
