He Gave Me a Divorce, I Gave Him Ruin Chapter 16

The word “harassment” seemed to stop him in his tracks.

He froze, suddenly aware that every eye in the café was on him.

He took a step back and lowered his voice, still trying to salvage the situation.

“Amelia, let’s just talk. Outside.”

I didn’t even look at him. I just tucked a few bills under my cup and said to Lucas, “Let’s go.”

The cold air outside seemed to bring Ethan a sliver of clarity. He blocked my path, his tone shifting as he tried to explain, attempting what he probably thought was sincerity.

“Listen. That day… with your father… Chloe was clinging to me. She was a mess.”

The absurdity of it was almost funny.

“So?”

As if he hadn’t heard the frost in my voice, he seemed to think he still had a chance. He stepped forward again, putting on his old air of magnanimity.

“Come back to New York with me. I can overlook whatever this is between you and this… student.”

I laughed.

I raised my hand, and he flinched, thinking I was about to slap him. He grabbed my wrist.

I didn’t struggle. I simply used my free hand to pull out my phone and dial a number.
