Silenced Omega Chapter 38

Silenced Omega Chapter 38

It was a broken, hoarse sound, chilling to the bone.

As she laughed, tears streamed down her face.

She forced out a tuneless, rasping sound.

“You think… this makes us even?”

“Archer is dead… He’s dead because of you.”

Preston pressed a hand to his wound, his face ghostly pale.

“Laney… Archer is a high-ranking werewolf. A lot of people were after him. You would never have been safe with him—”

Laney laughed even harder.

“Safe?”

She pointed at herself.

“I was safe with you? Having my pheromones drained, my leg broken, my gland destroyed, my throat sealed with silver, being forced to jump into a river.”

“Is that the safety you gave me?”

Camden spoke, his voice strained.

“We were wrong… We were so wrong. Just give us a chance. Let us make it up to you—”

Laney threw the knife to the floor.

“Make what up?”

She pointed to the door, then to her own heart.

“Bring Archer back. Then I’ll forgive you.”

The room fell silent.

Laney stared at them, forcing out each word.

“He’s dead. I’m not going to live without him.”

“You can lock me up. But you can’t imprison a corpse.”

Preston and Camden exchanged a look.

They both saw the fear in the other’s eyes.

Only now did they truly understand that Laney no longer loved them.

Not even a little.

All that was left was hate.

After a long time, Preston finally spoke, his voice a hoarse whisper.

“What if… I told you Archer isn’t dead?”
