Silenced Omega Chapter 15

Silenced Omega Chapter 15

A soft voice came from behind them.

“Camden? Preston? What are you doing out here?”

Genevieve walked over, wrapped in a cashmere coat, and slipped her arm through Camden’s.

“My sister… did she really jump?”

Camden’s body went rigid. He nodded.

“She never learned how to swim,” Genevieve said softly. “On a night this cold, with the current so strong… she couldn’t have survived.”

Preston’s tone immediately softened.

“Genevieve, don’t be sad. It was her choice.”

“I know.” Genevieve leaned into Camden’s arms, a sob catching in her voice. “But she’s still my sister. Camden, you have to find her, okay?”

Camden looked down at her, his throat working.

Finally, he managed a single word.

“Okay.”

Preston stood by, saying nothing.

In his heart, he thought it was for the best if Laney was dead.

It would save them a lot of trouble later.

“Genevieve, it’s cold out here,” he said. “Let’s go back. The search teams will handle it.”

Genevieve nodded, then looked up at Camden again.

“Camden, stay with me. I’m scared to be alone.”

An image flashed in Camden’s mind: the look in Laney’s eyes just before she was dragged from the hospital.

Empty, cold, and utterly final.

His chest tightened abruptly.

“Camden?” Genevieve gently shook his arm.

Camden snapped back to himself, pushing the feeling down. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you back.”

His phone vibrated.

It was a text from the search team leader.

“Sir, we’ve found suspected traces of the target’s pheromones three kilometers downstream. Expanding the search now.”
