When he finished reading, he tossed the file in front of Laney.

“I didn’t want to do this,” he said.

“But you keep going after Genevieve. I can’t let it continue.”

“Go to the Omega sanatorium and reflect on what you’ve done. When you’re cured, we’ll talk.”

He bent down and gripped Laney’s chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.

His Alpha pheromones clamped around her gland like iron pincers.

“As for the position of Mrs. Blackwood, that will only ever belong to Genevieve.”

“She saved my life. If she hadn’t rushed into that fire eight years ago, I would be dead.”

“I have to repay that debt.”

“She saved me, too. The time I almost drowned in the lake, she jumped in and pulled me out.”

“You shouldn’t stand in Genevieve’s way,” Preston said, looking at Laney. “She deserves to have the best of everything.”
