His Tardiness, Her New Marriage Chapter 07

Realizing someone had entered, she spun around in shock.

“Blake! What are you doing in here?!”

A surge of fury shot through Blake.

“What are you doing here? Where’s Audrey?”

Sloane’s eyes reddened as he yelled at her. “Why are you shouting at me?”

“I saw the ceremony was about to start and she hadn’t come out. I just wanted to see if she needed any help. When I came in, she was gone, and the dress was just hanging here…”

She looked down, tugging at the magnificent skirt.

“I just thought the dress was so beautiful, I couldn’t resist trying it on!”

“Sloane!” A muscle in Blake’s jaw twitched. “Take it off. Now.”

Sloane pouted, reluctantly starting to pull at the laces on the back.

Just then, there was a knock on the dressing room door.

A hotel banquet manager hurried in.

“Mr. Harrington, the ceremony is scheduled to begin. The officiant is asking if Miss Langford is ready to make her entrance.”

Before Blake could answer, the clear sound of a string prelude drifted from outside the door.

It was followed by the faint but audible sound of enthusiastic applause and cheers.

The sound seemed to be coming from somewhere nearby.

The manager’s smile became more apologetic.

“Also… Mr. Harrington, there’s another wedding that was added to the ballroom next door on short notice. Their schedule is very tight.”

“If your ceremony can’t begin just yet, would it be possible to clear the main corridor? We wouldn’t want to delay the Ashford-Langford wedding next door.”

“The Ashford-Langford wedding?”

Blake repeated the words. “Which Langford?”

The hotel manager maintained a professional smile. “I’m not entirely sure about that…”

Blake paused.

An indescribable unease settled in his heart, but he didn’t have the mental energy to ask about someone else’s business.

He picked up his phone and called one of his groomsmen. “Audrey’s not in the dressing room. Split up and find her.”

After hanging up, he turned back to the manager. “This wedding was booked six months in advance. We’re not giving up the corridor.”

The man looked troubled. “Mr. Harrington, there really is a scheduling conflict…”

“There is no conflict,” Blake interrupted him. “My wedding was pre-booked. I will not make way for a last-minute event.”

His gaze fixed on the manager’s face, his voice deepening.

“Go tell that to your general manager.”
