His Tardiness, Her New Marriage Chapter 08

As soon as he finished speaking, his phone buzzed. A groomsman had sent him a picture.

The moment he opened it, Blake’s breath caught in his throat.

A figure in a magnificent wedding gown stood with her back slightly turned, talking on the phone.

The dress was a different style, simpler and more elegant.

The graceful neckline, the familiar curve of her shoulders… she looked beautiful today.

A wave of hot emotion washed over Blake’s heart.

All the anxiety, suspicion, and anger of the past few days seemed to melt away at the sight of this photo.

He was finally going to marry her.

The realization filled his chest with a strange sense of peace.

There might have been some bumps along the way, but now, everything was about to get back on track.

He would have a home, he would have Audrey, and maybe soon, they would have children…

He zoomed in on the picture, trying to get a better look.

Sloane had sidled up next to him at some point, staring at the photo.

She complained with a teasing tone, “Blake, don’t you think I look better in this one?”

Blake’s attention finally shifted slightly from the photo. He glanced at her.

His sudden relief made him more tolerant of Sloane’s ill-timed comparisons.

He replied casually, “I guess she didn’t like the one I picked. Whatever.”

He put his phone away, preparing to go get her himself.

“If you like this one, you can have it. She won’t be using it anyway. You can save it for your own wedding.”

With that, he turned to leave.

“Blake!” Sloane suddenly reached out and grabbed his arm.

Blake stopped, frowning as he looked back.

Sloane tilted her head up to look at him.

Her trademark smirk was gone.

Her voice trembled slightly as she asked the question that broke through all her pretenses:

“When you came in just now, and you saw me in the wedding dress… what did you feel?”
