The Mafia Real Daughter’s Revenge Chapter 04

The Mafia Real Daughter’s Revenge Chapter 04

[Nora’s POV]

I sat quietly and waited.

Eventually, Rachel finished boasting about her achievements, and the reporters eagerly moved on

to the interview segment.

“Miss Moretti, we’ve heard you earned a perfect score in Finance and International Trade. Would you mind analyzing one of Sicilian Academy’s past investment case studies and telling us the optimal point to invest?”

Rachel glanced at me and smiled confidently.

“Of course.”

She picked up a pen and began scribbling across the page.

At first, everyone waited patiently.

Then the minutes dragged on.

Rachel’s confidence gradually faded. Sweat gathered in her palms, and every few seconds her eyes

darted toward me.

I took a leisurely sip of champagne.

Half an hour passed.

Rachel still hadn’t written a single meaningful answer.

The reporter eventually forced an awkward smile and tried to move on.

Whispers immediately spread through the ballroom.

“I thought she was supposed to be some kind of genius.”

“Maybe the genius was her sister all along.”

“Wouldn’t be the first time someone took credit for somebody else’s work.”

Rachel’s face turned pale.

Then she burst into tears and ran out.

The event carried on without her, and before long the reporters shifted their attention to me.

I glanced at the question once.

“Three percent.”

The reporters blinked.

“When the projected return reaches three percent, that’s the optimal entry point.”

They hurriedly compared my answer against the official solution.

A few seconds later, one of them nearly shouted.

“Oh my God. It’s exactly the same.”

I had barely begun explaining my reasoning when Nathan grabbed my arm and dragged me away.

“Nora, do you enjoy being the center of attention that much?”

His face was dark with anger.

“Do you have any idea what happened to Rachel after she left? She ran off to Brooklyn and nearly

got assaulted by a group of thugs.”

Iyanked my arm free.

“If she actually knew what she was talking about, she would’ve answered the question herself. Unless you all-”

I never got to finish.

Maria suddenly swung her handbag at me. The metal clasp sliced across my cheek.

“You selfish little monster!”

Her eyes were red with fury.

“Your sister’s condition is still unknown, and you’re standing here showing off?”

The sting on my face was nothing compared to the ache in my chest.

For the first time, I looked directly at her.

“Mom.”

My voice shook.

“I’m your daughter too.”

Maria froze.

For a brief moment, something flickered across her face.

Then it vanished.

“Go to the hospital and apologize to your sister.”

At that moment, my phone vibrated. The DNA results had arrived.

My hands trembled as I opened the report.

Relationship to the Moretti Family: 0%.

My pulse spiked as I turned toward Maria, ready to tell her the truth.

I had barely taken a step when a sharp pain exploded at the back of my head.

Everything went black.

When I opened my eyes again, I was surrounded by Nathan’s friends.

One of them laughed uneasily.

“Nathan, are you serious? You want us to force-feed your little pet alcohol? Isn’t she allergic?”

Nathan sat in the shadows. His voice was colder than ice.

“Rachel’s still unconscious because of her. An apology isn’t enough.”

Panic seized me as they forced bottle after bottle of liquor down my throat. By the time they finally

stopped, my stomach felt like it was on fire.

As my vision blurred, I fumbled for my phone and called my parents.

Lucius answered immediately.

“Nora, where the hell are you? We told you to apologize to Rachel. Get over here now.”

My voice cracked.

“Mom… Dad… I’m dying…”

Maria scoffed.

“Still pretending?”

Then Rachel’s voice came through the speaker, light and amused.

“Didn’t anyone tell you, Nora?”

She laughed softly.

“Mom and Dad were the ones who came up with this.”

My eyes burned red.

With trembling fingers, I pulled up the DNA report and shoved my phone toward Nathan.

“Nathan!”

I screamed so hard my throat tore.

“Look at it!”

“I’m the real Moretti daughter!”

The next second, he brought his foot down on the phone, crushing it beyond recognition.

“Nora.”

His voice was full of contempt.

“If you’ve been lying long enough to everyone else, don’t start lying to yourself too.”

Darkness swallowed me again.

When I woke up, two months had passed.

I’d spent those two months forgotten in the ICU. Not until the first day of the fall semester.

That morning, my parents and Nathan finally appeared.

They drove me to the enrollment office of a community college in Italy.

Nathan sounded impatient.

“Rachel was worried you wouldn’t have anyone looking out for you, so she arranged this school for

you.”

My parents didn’t even look at me.

“From now on, you’re on your own.

Lucius’s voice was cold.

“The Moretti family won’t be helping you anymore.”

I turned my head away before they could see the tears gathering in my eyes.

The moment they left, several upperclassmen approached me with friendly smiles.

“We’ll show you around.”

After leading me through a maze of unfamiliar streets, they stopped in front of an abandoned

warehouse.

A chill ran down my spine. Something was wrong.

I turned and tried to leave.

One of the boys blocked my path.

“Where are you going, freshman?”

His smile made my blood run cold.

“Your sister already gave you to us.”

I screamed.

A hand clamped over my mouth.

The world dissolved into darkness once again.
