My Sister Wanted The God, I Got The Beast In Bed Chapter 03

In the cave atop Obsidian Crest, Valerie sat rigid on the stone bed, shaking from the cold.

The air was bitter — frost clung to every surface, permanent and unmelting. She’d chosen a completely sheer nightgown for the wedding night, and now she was paying for it.

“My lord…” she cooed, making her voice soft and sweet, eyes fixed on Gideon as he sat meditating with his back turned.

Gideon didn’t turn around. “Shut up.”

Valerie bit her lip and inched closer, unwilling to give up. “It’s our wedding night, my lord. Shouldn’t we… consummate our marriage?”

She reached for his shoulder. Her fingers never made contact. A blast of force hurled her backward, and she hit the ground hard.

She coughed — and blood spattered across the stone floor. Her eyes went wide, pure shock washing over her face.

Gideon turned, slowly, deliberately. Candlelight caught the black scales that covered his face, every ridge and edge etched in sharp relief.

His pupils were vertical slits, and there was nothing behind them — no warmth, no recognition, nothing.

“I married you because the Clan required it,” Gideon said. “If you want to survive this marriage, stay where you are. Don’t get any ideas.”

He pointed to a straw mat crumpled in the corner. “That’s where you sleep. From now on.”

Valerie stared at the mat. This was nothing like what she’d pictured.

In her first life, Flora had warned her that Gideon was cold — but she’d never said anything about him being violent. And Valerie hadn’t come here for a straw mat. She’d come here to be the Divine Queen.

“But I’m your wife…” Valerie’s voice cracked.

Gideon’s lip curled, and dark magic coiled off him like smoke.

“Wife?” He let the word drip with contempt. “Your innate rabbit magic fuels my ascension. That’s the only reason you’re here. Make another sound, and I’ll throw you in the viper pit.”

Valerie clamped a hand over her own mouth and shrank into the corner, not daring to breathe.

She watched him close his eyes and sink back into meditation, and told herself this was fine. Everything was fine.

Divine Lords had to remain celibate. That was just how the Ascension was supposed to work.

Julian, by contrast, had been nothing but a shameless leech in her first life — crawling into her bed every night, with no ambition, no drive, and no interest in anything beyond her body.

One year. She just had to survive one year. Once Gideon ascended, she’d be Divine Queen, and everything she’d ever wanted would fall into her lap.

Flora was probably rolling in the mud with that useless white serpent right about now. The thought made Valerie feel a little better.

What Valerie didn’t know was that at that exact moment, I was living the dream she thought she’d thrown away.

Back in Peach Blossom Vale, wedding candles flickered across the wedding chamber, and the air hung sweet and warm.

I’d finished off an entire plate of sweet radishes and let out a very unladylike burp.

Julian reached over and wiped the crumbs from the corner of my mouth. Something in his gaze shifted — darkened.

“Full?” he asked. I nodded.

“Then…” He leaned in, his breath warm against my ear. “It’s time you fed your husband, too.”

My face burned. Before I could react, his hands found my waist, and he lifted me onto the soft down bedding like I weighed nothing.

He settled over me, his fingers finding my dress laces and pulling them loose. Every movement was careful, deliberate — as if I were something that might break.

“You’re so beautiful,” he murmured. His lips brushed my forehead, the tip of my nose, and then found my mouth.

Slow and deep and sweet — the kind of kiss that dissolved every thought. My heart was hammering.

I’d spent my entire first life as a virgin widow. When it came to this, I knew absolutely nothing.

“Don’t be scared,” Julian said. He must have felt me tense up, because his hand moved to my back, stroking slow circles until my shoulders loosened.

“I’ll be gentle,” he promised. The last of our clothes fell away, and then it was just skin against skin, warmth against warmth.

And then I saw it — the serpent Clan’s so-called natural gift. The rumors were true. Serpents were built differently.

When Julian finally let me see him, I nearly shifted back into full rabbit form out of sheer shock.

“What — what is that —” My eyes went round.

Julian’s cheeks flushed, but his grip on my waist didn’t falter.

“The serpent Clan… we’re all built this way,” he said, half-apologetic, half-breathless. “If it’s too much, you can bite me.”
