My Husband Faked His Death Chapter 17

Lily’s eyes were bloodshot. She kept begging me to look for Jake.
I frowned and quickly stepped aside. “Lily, get up first. Tell me what happened to Jake.”
Lily looked haggard, completely panicked. “Jake insisted on going skiing. I couldn’t talk him out of it, so I went with him.
But he disappeared at the same place where he faked his disappearance last time. I’ve searched for three days and can’t find him. I’ve run out of money. Please, go look for him.”
I pressed my lips together. “Lily, have you considered that he might be faking again?”
She shook her head firmly. “No. Jake would never lie to me.”
I sighed, let go of Ryan’s hand, and said to him, “I’ve been to that place several times. I’ll go with Lily to look for him.”
Ryan’s gaze turned dangerous. He stared at me. “You still care about him?”
“How could I?” I leaned close to his ear and whispered, “I’m sure he’s faking again. If you have time, you can come with me.”
Without hesitation, Ryan bought three plane tickets.
“I’ll go with you.”
I called the same search team again. The team members already knew me. They all sighed when they saw me.
“Mia, we told you we couldn’t find him. It’s been too long. No way.”
I nodded vaguely. “Just go through the motions. He’s not really missing. Do a quick search, and I’ll pay you the same.”
The search team looked for three days. They didn’t find a single trace of Jake.
Lily was at her breaking point, crying almost every day.
I watched her without a shred of sympathy. It was her idea in the first place. Because of her, I had cried like that for three months, despairing. Now it was her turn. Couldn’t she even handle a few days?
On the fourth night, Jake suddenly appeared.
