My Husband Faked His Death Chapter 15

Jake’s grip on my hand dropped instantly. “Ryan, this is between me and my wife.”
Hearing that, I laughed bitterly.
“Between you and me? Jake, who gave you the idea to fake your disappearance? Don’t tell me you thought of it yourself. Do you even have the brains? You just let Lily lead you around by the nose.”
“You go out with her and call her your buddy. You drink with her and call her your buddy. You lie to me together and call her your buddy. You even sleep with her and call her your buddy. Tell me, do all your buddies get to do that with you?”
Disgust spread across my face. He made a mistake, and instead of apologizing, he made excuses. That only made me more disgusted.
Ryan shoved the frozen Jake aside and pushed me toward the door. “Go home and rest. I’ll handle him.”
I nodded, went inside, and slammed the door behind me. I didn’t know what Ryan and Jake talked about, but I didn’t see Jake for a long time after that.
I threw myself into work, practically on the phone or meeting with Ryan every day. The constant contact chipped away the awkwardness between us. Sometimes we even chatted like normal friends.
“Ryan, what did you say to Jake that night? He’s been gone for a while.”
Ryan glanced at me, pulled out his phone, and showed me a few photos. All of them were of Lily and Jake together.
“Once he realized you wouldn’t forgive him, he ran straight back into his buddy’s.”
