The Alpha Who Threw Me Away for a Ghost Chapter 05

When we arrived at the pack clinic, Elara clearly hadn’t anticipated my arrival.

The moment Alaric stepped into the patient room, she threw herself into his arms, planting a loud, resounding kiss right on his cheek.

Alaric froze instantly, neither pushing her away nor pulling her closer.

I leaned casually against the doorframe, pulled out my phone, and calmly recorded the entire scene. Then, I attached the voice recording of her threat from the wedding day, along with the AI face-swapped videos, and sent them directly to Elara’s Beta parents.

Her parents were notoriously strict, traditional werewolves. They would never tolerate such a humiliating scandal.

The fact that they hadn’t shown up at the Mating Ceremony proved they had been kept entirely in the dark.

So why not let them see exactly how their darling daughter was choosing to humiliate another pack’s lineage?

Elara pouted in dissatisfaction. “What is she doing here? What if she ruins my mood before the surgery…”

I took the bouquet of carnations I had brought along and casually arranged them in the vase on her nightstand. “Just here to wish you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.”

Elara choked on her words, utterly speechless.

I gently smoothed a stray lock of hair behind her ear, leaning in to whisper softly, “Feel free to keep this pack-wide space heater.”

“Damaged goods belong in the recycling bin anyway. It’s only right.”

The second the words left my mouth, I turned to leave.

I mainly wanted to get out before she could fake a medical emergency and blame it on me.

Before I even cleared the threshold, the sound of a ceramic vase shattering against the floor echoed behind me.

That was immediately followed by Elara’s pitiful wailing and Alaric’s frantic, soothing murmurs.

The door clicked open and shut, and Alaric followed me out into the hallway.

He confronted me with a deep furrow in his brow. “What did you say to her? You know damn well she’s a patient…”

“Yes, a patient,” I scoffed, rolling my eyes. “If you want to worship her like a saint, go right ahead. I’m officially opting out.”

Alaric sighed. “Elara’s vitals are still unstable. I need to stay and watch over her tonight.”

I peered through the small window of the door, catching Elara glaring at me with absolute malice.

She looked plenty lively for someone supposedly unstable.

I gave a curt nod. “You don’t need to report your schedule to me.”

After all, we were completely done.

Alaric grabbed my hand tightly. “You understand, right? A life is on the line here. She loves me more than anything, Joanna. The curse has settled deep into her bones, and the surgery might not even work. How can I let her pass away with such a devastating regret?”

Before I could explicitly state that we had already broken up and that I wouldn’t care even if he slept in her bed tonight, Elara’s voice shrieked from inside the room again.

Alaric immediately sprinted back inside to cater to her every whim.
