The Comments Told Me I Was Carrying His Only Heirs Chapter 06

Mila left reluctantly.

Mrs. Carrington remained seated on the couch, typing away on her phone to instruct her people to verify Josiah’s medical records at the hospital.

An hour later, she received confirmation of Josiah’s fertility issues.

Mrs. Carrington let out a long, weary, helpless sigh, her eyes fixing onto my belly with a complex gaze, “Josiah mentioned you’re carrying twins?”

I nodded, “Yes.”

A mocking smile played at the corner of her lips, “Well, aren’t you the lucky one.”

She paused for a brief moment before continuing, “Focus on taking care of your pregnancy. I will handle Mila.”

I nodded obediently, “Thank you, Mrs. Carrington.”

Mrs. Carrington looked like she wanted to give me a stern lecture, but seeing how completely compliant and docile I was, she lost all interest, picked up her bag, and walked out.

Not long after she left, Josiah called to reassure me and transferred another two million dollars to my account.

The comments revealed that Martha had covered for Ms. Higgins, allowing her to secretly tip off Josiah about his mother’s sudden arrival.

The moment Josiah got the message, he called his mother immediately.

To show my gratitude, I transferred two hundred thousand dollars each to Martha and Ms. Higgins.

Both of them were ecstatic and practically swore their absolute loyalty to me on the spot, considering two hundred thousand dollars was worth half a year’s salary to them.

After that chaotic day, my peaceful routine returned.

That was until five days later, when Josiah showed up at my door completely unannounced.

I looked at him, thoroughly confused.

Josiah glanced back at me, looking slightly conflicted, “There’s something I need to discuss with you.”

Martha and Ms. Higgins tactfully left the living room.

An unexplainable wave of nervousness washed over me. “What is it?”

Josiah patted the cushion next to him, “Sit down, and we’ll talk.”

“Oh,” I murmured, taking a seat at the far end of the couch.

Josiah spoke softly, “My mother absolutely despises… illegitimate children.”

I gave a small nod, “Oh.”

The comments had already told me that, and the memory was still fresh in my mind.

Josiah seemed unsure how to broach the subject, taking a moment to choose his phrasing before continuing, “She believes that if these two babies are born out of wedlock, people will always use their background against them in the future. So… she wants us to get married.”

I stared at him in sheer shock, “Get married?”

Josiah nodded, “Yes. That way, they will be born into a legal marriage, and no one can ever look down on them.”

His pace quickened as he went on, “Don’t worry, we can get a divorce once they turn one. I will give you an extra twenty million dollars as compensation.”

The shock slowly wore off.

Giving my babies a legitimate, respectable background was something I would gladly do even without any compensation!

Of course, if he insisted on throwing money at me, I wasn’t about to turn it down.

After all, no one ever complains about having too much cash.

I nodded without hesitation, “I have no problem with that.”

“Good,” Josiah said, handing me a supplemental agreement, “Take a look. If there’s anything you’re not happy with, we can negotiate.”

“Alright.”

I read through the document carefully, and once I was certain everything looked right, I signed my name.

We set a date to go to the city hall, and then Josiah left.

He didn’t stay a single minute longer than necessary.

I didn’t care in the slightest, but the comments were losing their minds with anxiety:

[Josiah and the extra are so distant and formal with each other. When are they actually going to fall in love?]

[Looking at how things are going, this is definitely a marriage-of-convenience topic.]

[I hope so. I actually really like this girl. Just please don’t turn her into a villainess, that would ruin everything.]

Don’t worry, there is absolutely no way I am turning into a villain.

Unless, of course, someone tries to hurt my babies.
