He Delayed My Delivery for His Widow’s Son? Meet the Veyron Heiress! Chapter 01

I was in labor, and my husband stopped me with his own hands — all for his precious widowed sister-in-law.

Nikolai Rosetti held my hand, pretending to be the devoted husband.

“Almost there, Aurelia. Hold on a little longer.”

The pain tore through me like a blade.

And like a fool, I still forced a smile for him.

Until a nurse walked in with a syringe.

I had just let out a breath of relief when Nikolai released my hand and stepped back.

The moment the needle pierced my skin, I heard him say, “Get the dosage right. She cannot deliver before Isadora does.”

I stared at him in disbelief.

Nikolai glanced down at his watch, his voice cold.

“Isadora hasn’t delivered yet. You can wait another two hours.”

I wanted to scream.

But the drug hit too fast.

The contractions that had been tearing me apart were suddenly forced down, crushed back into my body.

The next second, they dragged me out of the private delivery room like an inconvenient piece of baggage and threw me into a detention room on the basement level.

The freezing floor slammed into my back.

Nikolai’s sister, Bianca Rosetti, stood in the doorway, lazily twirling a scalpel between her fingers.

She smiled down at me. “Don’t blame my brother, sister-in-law.”

“Isadora is carrying the child my brother Luca left behind. And it’s a boy.”

“The Rosetti family has waited so long. At last, we finally have a real heir.”

Her gaze dropped to my belly, full of disgust, as if she were staring at something worthless.

“As for you? You’ll only give birth to another useless girl.”

Another brutal contraction slammed into me.

I clutched my stomach and nearly curled into a ball, fighting the numbness and tearing pain the drug had forced through me.

“Call a doctor… the baby is coming. Please…”

Bianca laughed right in my face.

She bent down and lightly tapped the tip of the scalpel against my cheek.

“A doctor? Don’t even dream of it. These drugs should hold you off for at least three hours. Isadora has already been taken into surgery.”

“So be good and wait until her son is born. Once the Rosetti heir arrives first, you can deliver however you want.”

She straightened and ordered the guards outside, “Watch her. If she screams, shut her mouth.”

The iron door slammed shut.

Only a dim light remained in the basement.

I lay on the cold concrete floor as blood slowly spread beneath me.

Nikolai had taken my phone at the hospital.

He said radiation was bad for the baby.

How ridiculous — he simply did not want me contacting anyone.

I curled in on myself, gasping from the pain.

All I could see in my mind was Nikolai’s icy face.

That was when I finally understood. In his eyes, I had never been his wife. I had never been the mother of his child.

I was only an obstacle standing in their way.

Three months ago, Nikolai’s older brother, Luca, died in a car accident, leaving behind his widow, Isadora, who was three months pregnant.

At the funeral, Aldo Rosetti held Isadora’s hand and cried so hard he could barely stand.

He said, “You must bring this child into the world. The Rosetti family needs an heir.”

Back then, I had actually felt sorry for her. I even said, “Don’t worry, Father. Our child will help protect this family too.”

Aldo had not even looked at me — because in their eyes, the child in my belly had never been qualified to be born.

“Ah –”

Another contraction hit.

This one was worse.

The drug was losing control. My child was fighting with everything she had to come into this world.

I crawled to the iron door and beat against it until my palms split open and blood smeared across the panel.

“Help! I’m giving birth! Save my baby!”

No one answered.

I shouted until my voice went hoarse.

At last, the guard outside roared back in irritation, “Shut up! Miss Bianca said you wait!”

I cried, “My baby will die!”

There was a second of silence outside the door. Then the man sneered, “Then let her die. If you wanted to survive in the Rosetti family, you should have carried a boy.”

I collapsed onto the floor, trembling all over.

This was not an accident.

It was not negligence.

They wanted me and my daughter to die here.
