Set You Free, My Lord Chapter 07

Set You Free, My Lord Chapter 07

In Liam’s arms, I smelled his calming scent.

A mix of light sanitizer and fresh aftershave.

It reminded me of safety and warmth.

A pure world with no vampires, no magic, no painful memories.

My heart beat faster. My cheeks grew hot.

Liam looked down at me. A tender light shone in his brown eyes.

He looked like he wanted to say something important. His lips parted slightly.

But at that exact moment, his phone rang harshly.

“Damn it,” he cursed softly. He answered it reluctantly. “Hello?… What?… Okay, we’ll be right there.”

He hung up. His face turned serious. “Odette, we have to go back to the clinic now. The sheriff says someone broke in. It’s a mess.”

We sprinted back to the clinic. We saw flashing police lights and a crowd from far away.

When we rushed through the doors, I gasped.

The inside was completely trashed. Chairs were flipped. Medical gear was scattered everywhere. Blood splattered the walls.

The air was thick with the smell of blood and a supernatural scent I knew well.

But the biggest shock was Dorian.

He lay in the middle of the floor in a pool of blood. A long silver sword was stuck in his chest. The hilt was still shaking.

The wound was deep. It almost went right through his chest. The edges of the wound were already blackened. Silver poison. I watched in horror as dark veins of it crawled from his chest, inching toward his heart.

“Oh my god…” I dropped to my knees next to him. My hands hovered in the air, shaking. I didn’t know what to do.

Dorian struggled to open his eyes. He was as pale as paper. Black blood spilled from his mouth. “Odette… thank god you’re okay…”

“What happened?” I demanded.

“Red Fang… they tried to take hostages in the clinic… I couldn’t let them hurt innocent people…” Every word took a massive effort. “The basement… I told the townsfolk to hide there… they’re safe now…”

I finally realized why the usually busy clinic was so quiet. Dorian traded his life to protect everyone.

“Normal hospitals can’t fix a silver wound,” Dorian coughed up more black blood. His voice grew weaker. “Silver poison attacks a vampire’s life core directly…”

Liam checked Dorian’s wound. He looked grim.

He knew about the supernatural world. He knew exactly what this meant.

“Odette,” he said to me gently but firmly. “If you have some kind of special power, use it now. Or else… you might regret it for the rest of your life.”

I froze. Liam knew?

“Did you think I wouldn’t notice?” he smiled bitterly. “The buildings you design always have this magical healing vibe. The plants you touch grow like crazy… Odette, you have a healing gift.”

I looked at the dying Dorian. A war raged inside me.

I hated him to my bones. I hated him enough to be reborn for revenge.

But… seeing him suffer like this to save innocent people… I couldn’t just watch him die.

Not for love. But to finally step out of this shadow. For true freedom.

I reached out my shaking hand and placed it on Dorian’s chest. I closed my eyes and summoned the warm power deep inside me.

Golden light poured from my fingertips. It wrapped around Dorian’s wound like water.

I felt the healing energy fighting the silver poison fiercely. It neutralized the deadly toxin bit by bit.

The process hurt more than I expected. The price of healing others is taking on some of their pain. I felt like someone stabbed knife into my chest and twisted it.

But I gritted my teeth and held on. Finally, the golden light completely swallowed the black poison.

When it was over, I collapsed on the floor, drained.

Dorian’s wound was totally healed. Some color came back to his face.

“Why?” He looked at me in shock. His eyes were full of disbelief.

“Because I don’t want this clinic to be a crime scene,” I replied coldly. I forced myself to stand up.

Then, I reached into my pocket. I pulled out the amulet. I’d carried it for five years.

A silver pendant with a broken chain rune.

“I am cutting our blood bond forever.”

Dorian turned paler than when he was poisoned. “No… Odette, please don’t do this… If you sever the bond,” he choked out, “A

Prince can never find another true mate. Ever.”

“Not my problem.” I showed no mercy. I gripped the amulet tight. “Ancient power of the pact, hear my call. Break these bloody chains, and give me true freedom!”

The power answered me.

Severe pain shot through my whole body like electricity. It felt like something inside me was being ripped apart.

I felt the invisible ties between me and Dorian snapping one by one. Every snap brought piercing pain.

But I gritted my teeth. This was my only way to get true freedom.

The golden light faded. The amulet turned to dust in my hands.

Dorian fell to his knees in agony. He gasped for air. His eyes were full of raw hurt and disbelief. “Do you… do you really hate me that much?”

“I don’t hate you,” I said, a strange calm settling over me. “I’m just choosing me.”

He looked at Liam. Liam stood quietly by my side supporting me. Dorian finally understood.

He stood up slowly. He looked deeply pained, but strangely relieved.

“I understand,” he said softly. The anger was gone. Only deep sadness and a trace of peace remained. “You chose true happiness.

He gave me one last, deep look. Then he turned to the door. “I will leave this town. I won’t disrupt your life again. May you… may you find real joy, Odette.”

The door closed. Liam gently took my hand. “Are you okay?”

I took a deep breath. I’d never felt so light.

The chains of the blood bond were gone. I was finally free.

“Better than ever,” I answered honestly.
