My Husband Framed Me For His Mother’s Murder Chapter 08

As soon as I said that, the smug look on Michael and Jessica’s faces froze, and their expressions tightened.

Michael grabbed my arm. “What did you say? There’s another camera? I didn’t know about that.”

“There’s a lot you don’t know,” I said coldly, pulling my arm free.

A few days ago, I saw people in the community’s Nextdoor forum saying someone had been breaking into homes through the balcony.

Even though we lived on the tenth floor, I still felt uneasy.

So before I left on my business trip, I installed a camera on the balcony, never imaging that this small act would end up proving my innocence.

The officer logged into the account with the username and password I provided.

The footage appeared clearly on the screen, showing the view of my balcony.

The officer dragged the timeline to the afternoon of the incident.

At 6:40 p.m., Michael helped his mother into the living room. She looked drowsy and disoriented.

A few minutes later, Michael led her to the balcony.

He sat her on the edge of the railing, leaning against the glass.

Then he carefully adjusted her position to ensure she wouldn’t fall immediately.

He pulled out his phone, sent me a message, grabbed his briefcase, and quickly walked out the door.

At 6:55 p.m., Jessica walked in from the hallway.

She quickly changed into my cream-colored trench coat.

At exactly 7:10 p.m., Jessica walked to the balcony, glanced down at the women doing their workout, and saw that their music had just stopped.

She stepped up to Patricia. Without any hesitation, she reached out and gave her a hard push.

A few seconds later, a loud crash echoed.

After pushing her, Jessica didn’t leave immediately, instead, she leaned over the window and stayed there for ten or fifteen seconds.

She wanted the neighbors doing their workout to see her and think I was the one who pushed Patricia.

The surveillance footage captured everything. Every detail was clear.

The interrogation room fell completely silent. Everyone watched the screen, and no one spoke.

Michael and Jessica trembled, looking lost and terrified.

They never imagined that a hidden camera would expose their carefully planned scheme.

After the footage ended, the officer turned off the laptop.

He looked coldly at Michael and Jessica and said, “Michael Harrison, Jessica Blake, do you have anything to say?”

Michael slumped in his chair, staring blankly at the floor, murmuring, “It’s over. It’s over.”

“I’m sorry, Officer. I’m sorry,” Jessica said, lifting her head with a tear-streaked face. “It was Michael. He made me do it.”

“He wanted Emily’s money. He wanted her to leave with nothing. So he came up with a plan to kill his own mother and blame Emily.”

“You’re throwing me under the bus,” Michael shouted, cutting her off. “You were the one who kept pushing me to kill her. You pushed me to frame Emily. Now you want to put it all on me?”

Jessica jumped up. “You were the one who drugged her and sat her on that ledge. You took out a huge life insurance policy on her.”

I stood to the side, watching them tear each other apart.

All the friendship and feelings they had once shared were gone, replaced by ugliness and desperation.

I felt only a flicker of satisfaction.
