When Love Burned to Nothing Chapter 08

When Love Burned to Nothing Chapter 08

Back at the hospital, Ken had already asked the doctor about the cause of my death.

The doctor told him plainly that contaminated liquid entered my wounds later on, leading to a fatal infection.

In other words, Biatica was the one who killed me.

Yet, she showed not a shred of guilt.

So Ken slipped sleeping pills into a batch of freshly baked cupcakes and smiled as he fed one to Bianca.

After finishing it, Bianca grew groggy and collapsed onto the bed, fast asleep.

The kids didn’t last much longer, either. One by one, they slumped over.

I stood there watching, a knot of confusion forming in my chest.

What was he planning to do? Why didn’t he spare the girls?

I stood beside him and said helplessly, “Ken, stop!”

I truly didn’t understand him. He had betrayed me first by choosing Bianca. Why was he acting like a devoted husband now?

Ken couldn’t hear me. He pulled out his phone and scrolled through our old photos. Tears welled in his eyes as he stroked my

face on the screen.

“Linette, I’m sorry. This is all my fault. I was blinded by Bianca for a moment, and I hurt you. Now that you’re gone, I finally realize… You’re the only one I’ve ever loved.”

His tears dripped onto the phone, and he looked completely lost.

I sat quietly beside him, listening.

I had loved Ken once. I had even imagined growing old with him.

That was why giving birth to three daughters for him never felt like a burden.

But then, he stopped loving me.

He even hurt Whitney just to please Bianca.

Everything I had been taught made it impossible for me to fight back. So, I chose fire as my escape.

I was a coward. I was weak.

Ken rambled for a long time while staring at my photos before finally standing up and wiping his eyes.

I knew it then. He was going to take revenge for me.

But I was already dead. Why torment the living for the sake of the dead?

Ken walked over to the three girls and tied them together. To keep them from making any noise, he sealed their mouths shut with tape.

Then, he dragged Bianca into the bathroom.

By now, the drugs had worn off.

Bianca groggily opened her eyes and saw Ken. The next second, she realized she was bound.

She started begging immediately.

“Ken, what are you doing? Untie me right now!”

Ken didn’t answer. He slapped her hard across the face. Then he went into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of cooking oil, splashing it across the house.

Instantly, Bianca knew what he was planning.

She struggled wildly and screamed, “Ken, have you lost your mind? Are you going to drag all of us down with Linette?”

Ken stopped and looked at her.

“This is what you deserve,” he said coldly. “You killed Linette. So you die!”

His eyes were empty. His voice held no love at all.

Bianca knew him well enough to understand he wasn’t joking.

Her fear exploded. She dropped to the floor and begged.

“I’m really sorry. Please let me go! And the kids… They’re your daughters! Linette wouldn’t want to watch her own children die!’

Bianca crawled on the floor, begging nonstop.

Ken acted like he couldn’t hear her. He just kept pouring oil.
