Ken never expected his daughters to be this heartless.

Fury surged through him as he smacked Carly on the arm.

“What are you talking about?!” he snapped. “Your mother is gone, and this is how you talk about her?”

But the girls kept giggling on the side, not a trace of grief on their faces.

Carly shrugged like it didn’t matter. “So what? She wasn’t that great, anyway. We’ve got a better mom now.”

Ken knew exactly who she meant.

And yet, the woman they were praising was the same one who had driven their real mother to her death.

Even he knew how much I had given for those kids.

So why had his daughters become this cold toward me?

Ken stared at them, shaking with rage. Guilt crushed down on him until he slapped himself hard twice across the face.

Queenie burst into loud sobs at the sight, terrified.

The entire hospital room descended into chaos. The noise made my head ache.

I looked at Ken. Annoyed, I muttered, “What’s the point of this now?”

He had chosen Bianca first. The kids were only copying what they saw.

Ken suddenly stood up and ordered the butler to take the three girls outside.

Then he grabbed my hand tightly and said, his voice trembling, “Linette, you must’ve been in so much pain to do that to yourself. Wait for me. I’ll make this right.”

After that, he had my body sent to the funeral home.

I stayed close behind him, watching as he got into the car and drove straight to Bianca’s place.

Bianca was at home, drinking nonstop, muttering complaints about Ken between gulps. When he walked in, she jumped and plastered on a flattering smile.

“Ken, why did you come?”

A flicker of disgust crossed his eyes before he broke into a bright smile.

“I lost my temper earlier. I’m sorry. I was just shocked after everything that happened.”

He pulled her into his arms.

Bianca hadn’t expected him to be fine again so quickly. Her emotions instantly spiraled.

She pressed herself against him, murmuring soft reassurances.

I stood right there, watching them cling to each other in front of me. I didn’t want to watch, but I couldn’t leave. Somehow, I was trapped near Ken, drifting wherever he went.

Bianca tugged him down onto the couch and climbed onto his lap, kissing him eagerly.

Ken’s eyes were open, fixed right in my direction.

For a split second, I thought he could see me. I checked again and again. It was just a coincidence. He was only looking this way.

Bianca’s hands slid over him, but Ken suddenly caught her wrist.

He looked at her calmly and said, “My wife died today. It’s not appropriate. Let’s go buy diamond rings instead. Now that Linette is dead, I can finally marry you.”

Bianca’s face lit up. She nodded hard.

“Okay. Let’s go right now!”

She jumped, practically rushing for the door.

Ken watched her with a cold smile and followed.

Before long, they picked out matching diamond rings. Then, Ken brought Bianca back to his apartment.

As soon as they entered, he told her to play with the kids while he headed into the kitchen to make some cupcakes.

Laughter echoed from the living room.

Ken stood behind the glass, staring at the scene with raw hatred burning in his eyes.
