Silas raised his hand high, but he didn’t slap her.

He collapsed to the floor and chugged more liquor.

Even Marnie knew.

The one who hurt me most was him.

Sober for a second, he called his lawyer.

He hung up and looked at Marnie, eyes ice-cold.

“Divorce papers are coming. We signed a prenuptial agreement. You get nothing.”

“Terminate the baby. If you don’t, I’ll pay minimum monthly child support—no more than three thousand dollars.”

“Choose whatever you want.”

Marnie’s eyes widened in disbelief, her heart aching so badly she could barely breathe.

How could he be so cruel?

It was his baby, almost five months old!

“No wonder Corinne hates you. You’re heartless. You don’t deserve love.”

“If you won’t give us a life, you won’t have one either.”

“Silas Hale, you bastard! I’ll kill you!”

Marnie ripped open a cabinet and grabbed his collectible samurai sword.

She charged at him wildly.

Normally, she never could have beaten him.

But Silas was badly injured and dead drunk.

He could barely stand, let alone fight a woman who hated him.

The blade sank deep into his chest.

This time, he wasn’t lucky.

It went straight through his heart.

Silas struggled for a moment, then went still.

In his last second, he smiled peacefully.

He remembered his 18-year-old promise.

Anyone who hurt Corinne deserved to die.

He kept it.
