My Parents Chose My Twin and Called Me Fake? Fine—I Found a Better Alpha Father! Chapter 04

My Parents Chose My Twin and Called Me Fake? Fine—I Found a Better Alpha Father! Chapter 04

I came to my senses, finding only a pack nurse sitting beside my bed.

She let out a sigh of relief. “You’re finally awake. Your fever spiked to a hundred and seven. If the patrol hadn’t found you and gotten you to the clinic, ten more minutes and you would’ve been gone.”

“Now contact your family to settle the medical bills.”

I stayed silent for a long time before speaking.

“I have no money.”

“I have no family at all.”

She froze.

I stared at the IV in the back of my hand, wetting my chapped lips. “But I have blood. You can take that.”

School resumed soon after. I took odd jobs for classmates, fetching meals and delivering parcels to earn cash.

I got one dollar per errand, making over twenty dollars each day.

One day right after I left the cafeteria, I ran straight into Hannah.

She folded her arms and raised an arrogant eyebrow. Her followers swarmed over at once, snatched my lunch box and smashed it hard onto the ground.

Food mixed with muddy water spilled everywhere.

Hannah smirked coldly.

“Poor thing, let me treat you to this meal.”

They forced my head down, trying to shove the trampled, filthy food into my mouth. I fought back, of course. But this was still Blackwood Pack territory. Hannah was still their cherished princess.

Just as my face was about to press into the mud, a stern voice cut through the chaos.

“Stop this instant.”

It was Instructor Archer, one of the few staff members unafraid of Hannah and a senior pack training mentor.

He gave the girls a sharp dressing-down before pulling me up and wiping the grime from my face. He’d heard snippets of what had happened to me. Knowing I was desperate for cash, he offered me a weekend job tutoring some of the younger students.

A decent man.

I never expected this small act of kindness would bring disaster. Archer was falsely accused of taking bribes and suspended pending investigation.

My photo was posted on the school bulletin board, paired with malicious rumors claiming I was kept by an older man.

My birth mother rushed to the campus in a rage. Without a word, she slapped me twice across the face.

She grabbed my hair and twisted it brutally, her voice shrill and harsh.

“You shameless girl! How dare you climb into a grown man’s car at such a young age?”

“You have no dignity, but I still have mine to protect!”

My head jolted sideways. I happened to meet the cold, disapproving stares of my foster parents. Behind them, Hannah grinned widely with sheer delight.

Loose hair fell forward, shielding my face and the tears I could no longer hold back.

I hung my head and spoke calmly.

“I’m sorry.”

“I know I was wrong.”

That night back at the shabby apartment, I had just finished bathing when a rough hand dragged me abruptly into the room.

My birth father Doyle stood shirtless, eyes bloodshot, lunging straight for me.

“You look so desperate. I can satisfy your cravings!”

Scum!

I slashed his face sharply with a utility knife hidden in my sleeve.

He stumbled back, panting like a rabid animal.

I gripped the knife, my eyes locked on him. “I’m a minor.”

“Touch me again, and you’ll rot in prison.” Living here, I’d come prepared.

Doyle spat on the floor, wiped blood off his cheek and bared his yellowed teeth.

“Just you wait.”

“Your foster parents sold you to me. I’ll get what I want sooner or later.”

The door slammed shut.

I slid weakly down to the floor, my whole body trembling violently. Tears streamed down my face, and I bit hard into the back of my hand to muffle my sobs.

My phone pinged.

A notification from the Blackwood family group chat. Mom: “Leanna, throwing yourself away so young.” “It makes me sick, thinking I called a dirty, disgraceful thing like you my daughter for seventeen years.”

A second later, I was removed from the group. By Dad.

Meanwhile, Mom stared at the three remaining members in the chat, a twinge of unease creeping into her heart.

“Haven’t we gone too far? We already confirmed she only took tutoring jobs for money.”

Dad snapped back angrily.

“Hannah cried her eyes swollen all because Leanna forced her to eat food off the ground.”

“Kicking her out of the group is the least she deserves.”

His tone softened soon after.

“It’s only temporary, just one year.”

“I’ve sent Doyle enough money, he’ll treat her decently.”

“We’ll bring her home the moment this period ends.”

They had no idea Doyle had no intention of waiting patiently.

In the dead of night, faint scraping sounds came from the locked door.

I jolted awake instantly and grabbed my knife. Severe fever and lingering injuries left me too weak to stand steadily.

The door crashed open. Doyle stepped inside with a menacing grin.

“You still dare wield a knife? No one can save you tonight.”

I stepped backward until my back hit the wall, trapped with nowhere left to run.

Stay conscious.

I sliced my own arm sharply with the blade.

As my vision blurred, I heard the door smash open completely. An overwhelming, oppressive Alpha aura flooded the small room.

A deep, icy voice echoed through the darkness.

“Who dares lay a hand on my daughter?”
