I Traded My Wolves for a Cold-Blooded Serpent, But Why is He Always Hitting on Me Chapter 02

The year was 3061. All animals had awakened, gaining intelligence just like humans.

After years of chaos, humans and beastmen now shared the planet.

But their minds and cultures clashed too much. Few humans wanted to marry beastmen.

Beastmen had different traits based on their original forms.

Wolves were naturally dominant. Foxes were playful and charming.

Some humans bought and sold beastmen in secret. Others ended up caring for them at home by chance.

I found three wolf pups on a cold, rainy day.

They lay on the concrete, their fur matted with blood.

I almost walked away.

But one of them flicked his tail weakly, then slowly wrapped it around my calf. I couldn’t leave them. I took them home.

Under my care, they healed quickly.

Before long, they hit their growth spurt.

All three turned into beastmen.

I should have sent them away. But the beastman shelter said they were too attached to me—they saw me as their master. Abandoning them would break their minds.

I looked into their pretty eyes and softened. I kept them.

They said they had no names. I named them from oldest to youngest:

John, Jay, Jacob.

Young, fiery wolves had endless energy.

Even in human form, their ears and tails twitched uncontrollably. They clung to me nonstop.

Then Ella called me.

“Sis, aren’t you going home for the arranged marriage?”

I pushed Jacob off my chest:

“That guy’s had three wives die on him. And he’s ugly.”

She went quiet, then mumbled: “But his family’s rich…”

I lowered my gaze.

That was why my family cut me off after I refused to marry. They didn’t want Ella to marry him, so they pressured me instead.

They sensed my bad mood.

Jay, the smooth one, narrowed his peach eyes and pulled me into his arms to comfort me:

“Hang up if it upsets you.”

“What was that?” Ella asked.

I changed the subject and complained: “Found three hurt wolf pups a while back. They just turned human. Won’t leave me alone. I can’t handle it.”

The line went quiet for a second. “Lucky you. My serpent won’t even touch me.”

I blinked, comforted her: “He’ll like you eventually.”

Ella didn’t argue. She just huffed.

The next day after that call,

Ella showed up at my door with armfuls of stuff.

She wore a cute white dress and grinned: “Surprise, sis?”

I turned around.

All three beastmen stared straight at her.

I turned back quietly.

I was used to it.

Everyone always liked Ella better. She was bright, pretty, and impossible to ignore. Next to her, I was plain and dull.

Ella said: “Sis, your place is way smaller than the family villa. Do they even have room to move?”

I paused: “It’s fine.”

Then I saw John, usually distant, fix his gaze on Ella.

Jay still smiled charmingly—but only for her.

Even Jacob, always grumpy, rested his chin in his hand and flicked his wolf ears fast.

Ella acted like she didn’t notice. She sipped her water innocently.

At that moment, I knew.

My things were going to Ella again.

After that,

the soft, sweet nights stopped. They grew rough, like they wanted me broken.

Then I heard their conversation.

I’d been right all along.

They’d fallen for Ella after just one look.
