I tapped the enter key lightly.

An encrypted zip file finished generating.

Inside was proof she’d tampered with the self-driving system.

It also held every record of her hacking into rival servers and stealing trade secrets over the past seven years.

“Elira, I’m warning you—don’t do this!”

Lucien reached for my laptop.

I flinched back and stared at him coldly.

“Relax. I didn’t call the police.”

“I was just writing my will.”

Lucien’s hand froze mid-air.

He looked at my pale face and scoffed.

“A will?”

“You’re barely hurt. Why are you writing a will?”

“You’re more unreasonable than ever!”

He took Celine’s hand and left without looking back.

“Celine, let’s go.”

“Let her lose her mind alone.”

The second the door closed, I collapsed onto my pillow, unable to hold on any longer.

The timed-send program on the screen was running.

It was set to send three days after I died.

The ward was deadly quiet late at night.

Only my heavy, ragged breathing echoed.

The wolfsbane had reached its irreversible final stage.

My kidneys had shut down completely. My lungs filled with fluid.

Every breath felt like swallowing broken glass.

A bright firework suddenly exploded outside the window.

The loud boom cut through the soundproof glass, lighting up the night sky.

A virtual screen appeared in my mind, projected by the system.

It showed Lucien having rented the biggest amusement park in the Northern Territory.

Under the fireworks, Celine wore a diamond crown and smiled like a real princess.

Lucien stood beside her, his eyes full of affection.

“Celine, congratulations on getting out of trouble.”

“If you want to play with any system later, brother will buy it for you.”

He held a champagne glass, his tone soft enough to melt anything.

I watched the scene and didn’t even have the strength to scoff.

The door slammed open.

The night nurse saw me and screamed in terror.

“Healer! Help! Patient in bed three is in shock!”

Chaos erupted in the hallway.

A crash cart rolled in. Bright surgical lights shone on my face.

“Heart rate dropping! No blood pressure!”

“Epinephrine, now!”

Healers shouted anxiously, but it sounded like I was underwater.

“Where’s the family? Contact them for a critical notice!”

The nurse frantically called Lucien.

On the virtual screen, Lucien’s phone vibrated in his pocket.

He frowned slightly, took out his phone, and glanced at it.

The word “Hospital” flashed across the screen.

Celine leaned over to take a look, then curled her lip.

“Brother, Elira’s crying wolf again.”

“She’s just mad you came out with me.”

Lucien snorted and hung up without hesitation.

The nurse dialed again, unwilling to give up.

This time, a cold robotic voice answered.

“I’m sorry, the number you have dialed is busy…”

He’d blocked me. Blocked the hospital’s number entirely.

“We can’t reach them! The family blocked the call!” The nurse was nearly in tears.

The doctor gritted his teeth and pumped my chest hard.

“Keep going! Don’t stop!”

I used my last bit of strength to turn my head toward the window.

The final firework burst in the sky, then faded into total darkness.

Just like my seven years of ridiculous marriage.

On the monitor, the bouncing line turned into a straight, flat green line.

The long, sharp sound cut through the silence.

My body suddenly felt weightless.

I slowly opened my eyes and found myself floating above the room.

The doctors below slumped and stopped, then pulled the white sheet over.

“Patient has no vital signs.”

“Time of death confirmed, 2:14 a.m.”
