I Rejected My Double-Standard Alpha Chapter 06

Matteo muttered: [… You’ve got to be kidding me.]. 

After that day, Matteo flooded his Instagram stories with 

posts of him and Daphne–couple dinners, matching hoodies, 

cute little dates. 

Every time he posted, his friends went wild, tagging me everywhere. 

Annoyed and frustrated, I blocked all of them. 

Blocking them online didn’t change a thing in real life. 

Daphne and I worked at the same design studio. 

Several times, I’d run into Matteo picking her up from work. 

They acted like they were the only two people in the world, all over each other, disgustingly mushy. Daphne would playfully say she wanted strawberries. 

Matteo would let her eat the tops while he ate the ends. 

Even when they fought occasionally, Daphne would throw a fit, and Matteo would quietly calm her down. 

Watching them was like looking in a mirror at my old self. 

Except now, Matteo was in my position–the one always backing down, humble, desperate to keep the peace. 

A few days later, a wealthy wolf from a neighboring pack came 

to Frostveil. 

He’d built a new office building on Frostveil Pack territory and specifically hired our firm to design it. 

It should have been my chance to shine. 

I was the top–performing designer, with the sharpest eye, and the only one who always met deadlines. 

But Matteo went to my manager–and since Matteo owned shares in the company, he easily used his Alpha influence. 

In the end, the project went to Daphne, who’d been at the firm 

less than two years. 

“Faye, Daphne’s younger. She needs this project to prove herself. You’re already experienced–you don’t need it. Let her have it.” 

I was forced to step back, losing my chance to advance and get 

promoted. 

Matteo knew how much that project meant to me, but he 

didn’t care. 

He pulled strings for Daphne, yet expected me to handle 

everything alone. 

I used to believe him–when he said he was pushing me to be 

independent, to handle things on my own. It was emotional 

manipulation, plain and simple. 

Of course women should be independent–but not when he 

used his Alpha power to hand everything to Daphne. 

Looking back, the double standard was so obvious it was laughable. 

Later, I walked into the office with coffee, and the first thing I 

heard was sobbing. 

Daphne’s eyes were red, shaking, her voice cracking. 

“Faye wouldn’t do this… it’s a misunderstanding. Why would 

she delete my design files on purpose?” 

Everyone rushed to comfort her and take her side. 

“Faye was first in this morning, you were second. Who else. would touch your computer?” 

“She’s had her eye on this project for a long time. Of course 

she’s mad you got it.” 

“This is awful! The client’s coming soon and the files are gone -this will ruin the firm’s reputation!” 

Daphne cried harder. 

“It’s all my fault. I stayed late last night and forgot to take my laptop home. If I’d taken it, this never would’ve happened.” 

Amid everyone’s sympathy and Daphne’s tears, they quickly 

blamed me. 

I stared at them coldly and finally spoke. 

“I didn’t delete anything. Check the security cameras if you don’t believe me. I never touched your computer.” 

Daphne froze. Someone cut in. “Everyone knows Daphne’s in the corner. The camera there’s broken. You could at least come 

up with a better lie.”
