The Forgotten Princess of the Pack Chapter 05

The Forgotten Princess of the Pack Chapter 05

Everyone froze.

The nanny and Aunt Beatrice kept calling Mother and Grayson in turns, and Vivienne immediately lost her temper.

“Didn’t you say you were here to shop with me? Why is everyone so busy answering calls?” she pouted.

Father immediately turned off his phone. “Vivienne, don’t be upset. Look, Daddy turned his phone off. Nothing is more important than spending time with my precious daughter.”

“Where is Felicity?” Grayson asked.

Beta Alex’s expression darkened further, his eyes rimmed with

red.

“Alpha… you should go see for yourself. Miss Felicity… she’s

dead.”

“That’s enough!” Grayson snapped. “How long are you all going to keep playing along with her nonsense? Tell her to come out immediately.”

Beta Alex paused, then gave a bitter smile. “Miss Felicity

cannot come. She is already dead.”

“Beta Alex, what are you implying?” Grayson exploded. “Are

you determined to cover for her? You’ve worked in the pack

house for nearly twenty years. I never knew you were so

incapable of telling right from wrong.”

Beta Alex frowned, anger finally breaking through. “Alpha, what is right and what is wrong? Miss Vivienne is only mildly

allergic to mangoes. She had a few rashes. They would have

faded within hours.”

“The mango belonged to Miss Felicity. If it wasn’t left on the table, where should it have been? It was a mango. Anyone

could recognize it. Miss Vivienne ate it herself. Who is to

blame?”

“It’s my fault,” Vivienne said timidly. “All of it is my fault. Beta Alex, please don’t be angry…”

“Vivienne, you don’t need to apologize to anyone,” Father snapped, glaring at Beta Alex. “You’re just a Beta. How dare you accuse the pack’s princess? Are you dissatisfied with me as Alpha?”

Beta Alex laughed softly, his expression filled with relief. “Yes. I am dissatisfied. You can send me to fight rogues on the most dangerous frontlines. You can exile me from the pack if you

want.”

“But I refuse to serve an Alpha who cannot tell right from wrong for even another minute. Miss Felicity is the kindest, sweetest child I have ever known. One day, you will regret how

you treated her.”

With that, he turned and left without looking back.

Vivienne sniffed. “Felicity isn’t really angry, is she? I was itchy, so I told you. If I’d known it would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have said anything…”

This time, no one responded.

Grayson frowned. “Let’s go check on her. She might really be upset. It’s a good thing I bought her a gift. This time, I’ll make it up to her.”

I drifted forward and leaned against Father’s shoulder.

I wanted to see how they planned to compensate a dead girl.

The basement was dim and filled with a foul stench.

When Mother turned on the light, she recoiled in shock.

I lay motionless on the floor.

Aunt Beatrice knelt beside me, stroking my hair again and again, whispering hoarsely.

“Good child. Rest now. These people aren’t worth your attachment, and they aren’t worth your hatred.”

“They don’t deserve it. If the Moon Goddess shows mercy and gives you another life, I hope you’ll be born into a family that loves you and gives you warmth and happiness.”

“Felicity, I hope you smile in your next life. Always smile. You

cried far too much in this one…”

Her voice was raw, as though she had spoken these words

countless times.

Everyone stood frozen.

Aunt Beatrice slowly fell silent, and the air grew unbearably

still.

She turned to face them. “You’re here. Unfortunately, you’re too late. Felicity is already dead.”

Grayson reacted first.

“That’s impossible… impossible. How could she be dead?”
