The Forgotten Princess of the Pack Chapter 06

The Forgotten Princess of the Pack Chapter 06

“How could she have died? Felicity was forced to drink mango juice by you. She choked to death!”

Grayson’s face drained of all color in an instant. His whole body began to tremble as he staggered forward, struggling to take step after step toward my corpse.

“Don’t come any closer!” Aunt Beatrice screamed hoarsely.

“You murderer. Get out of here!”

Vivienne frowned immediately. “Aunt Beatrice, how can you say that about my brother? Since Felicity is already dead, why haven’t you arranged her body properly? Why did you just leave her lying here? Is this what you call loving her?”

Aunt Beatrice suddenly burst out laughing. The harder she laughed, the louder it became.

“I did it on purpose. I wanted you all to see her like this. I wanted you to see exactly how miserable she looked when she died. I want you to have nightmares every single night and spend every day drowning in guilt!”

“No!” Mom finally snapped out of it. She stumbled toward me and collapsed to the floor, kneeling beside my body. “My daughter… my baby… wake up. Look at Mom. Please, look at

me…”

Dad walked over as well. He stood there in silence, his eyes filled with emotions I could no longer understand.

Aunt Beatrice suddenly turned to Mom, her voice heavy with grief. “Helena, why did you treat Felicity like this? She was your daughter. You carried her for ten months. Why did you treat her this way?”

Mom froze, then instinctively defended herself. “I didn’t

mistreat her. She grew up outside, in a place like that. I was

just afraid she’d turn out wrong. I only blamed her for being rude and for lying.”

“I didn’t stop loving her…”

Aunt Beatrice let out a cold laugh. “You didn’t blame the one

who lost her. You didn’t blame the rogues who abducted her. You didn’t blame the cruel pack that tortured her. Instead, you blamed her? And you still dare to say you loved her? You never

trusted her. Not once.”

Mom stood there, stunned, as if those words had finally pierced through her defenses.

Vivienne’s body shook violently, her face ghostly pale.

Suddenly, she broke down crying. “I didn’t mean it! I was too young back then. I was scared…”

“Shut up!” Dad finally spoke.

He stared at Vivienne, his gaze sharp and burning. “Felicity died, and you didn’t cry. Now someone says one sentence about you, and you’re crying? And don’t forget. You were the one who lost Felicity. That’s a fact.”

Vivienne froze, then hurriedly waved her hands in panic. “Dad, no! I just didn’t react in time!”

Dad kept staring at her. “I’ll ask you one thing only. Your sister died. Why didn’t you cry?”

After saying that, he closed his eyes. A single tear slid silently

down his cheek and disappeared into his collar.

I believed that, at this moment, they were truly grieving for

  1. me.

But I felt nothing at all.

Except for Aunt Beatrice, no one here was worth even a single

tear from me anymore.

Aunt Beatrice continued, her voice low and hollow. “It’s almost New Year’s. Felicity prepared a gift for every single one of you. She hid them carefully in her room.”

“To save money, she worked part–time at a small restaurant, washing dishes over and over again. Her hands were covered

in frostbite.”

Mom instinctively grabbed my hand and examined it closely.

Then she let out a piercing scream and collapsed onto the

floor.

Grayson had already sprinted toward my room. I floated behind him and almost failed to keep up.

I watched as he rushed inside and froze in place.

My room was painfully simple. Aside from the bed and wardrobe, there was only a plain wooden desk.

Like a madman, Grayson began rummaging through everything. Then, suddenly, he seemed to see something.

His entire body started to shake violently.

I closed my eyes.

On the large white box were written the words:

[New Year’s Gifts from Felicity to Her Family.]
