Regret of Two Alphas: I Married the Lycan King Chapter 05

Seven days later, it was the day of my mating ceremony.

They knew I had disappeared, but neither of them bothered to look for me.

In their eyes, I was just a liar. They were waiting for me to come crawling back and apologize.

On the day of the ceremony, I walked down the aisle in a floor-length wedding dress.

In the audience, Jareth and Evander hadn’t even noticed me. They were too busy playing with a

Rubik’s cube to amuse Arwen.

I took the mic and said, “I’d like to thank two friends who came all this way to attend my mating ceremony. Thank you, Evander and Jareth.”

The spotlight snapped onto Evander and Jareth’s faces.

They looked up, confused, and their eyes met mine. I stood there in my gorgeous wedding dress.

Their eyes went wide. The Rubik’s cubes fell from their hands.

I enjoyed watching them fall apart.

I tightened my grip on the arm of the man beside me.

The officiant asked, “Valeria, do you take this man to be your mate, for richer or for sickness and in health?”

Not far away, Evander and Jareth had gone mad, abandoning Arwen as they tried to rush to me.

Roderick noticed them too. For once, he looked almost nervous.

I held his hand to reassure him. “I do.”

Evander and Jareth never made it to me.

Roderick had taken this ceremony seriously and hired dozens of security guards.

The moment the two men made a move, the guards escorted them out.

The ceremony ended in a swell of applause.

Afterward, the moment I stepped out, Evander and Jareth came running toward me.

jareth’s eyes were swollen. He looked like he had been crying.

His voice trembled. “Valeria, this isn’t real, is it? You’re tricking me,

“Don’t do this to me.”

right?”

I raised an eyebrow. “You said it yourself. Who do you think I am to make Alpha Roderick come all

the way here just to act?”

Evander’s face crumpled. He staggered as if he might fall.

“No, Valeria, no. The three of us are best friends. Why would you marry someone else?”

“Valeria, don’t be so cruel.”

Jareth fell to his knees and started slapping himself. “I’m sorry, Valeria. It was my fault for demoting you. Are you angry that I took your position? I was wrong. I’ll give it back right now.”

I stepped back, putting distance between us. “You still don’t get it, do you? I already left the

Ravencrest Pack.”

Both of them froze.

In the past week or so, they had been too busy helping the newly appointed Arwen establish her authority to even remember that they had approved my resignation request.

Arwen didn’t know anything. The few achievements she had were stolen from me.

Now I was just waiting to see how she would manage to earn anyone’s respect.

Jareth and Evander stood there for a long time, unable to believe I meant it.

We had founded the Ravencrest Pack together.

I took no shares. I just wanted to help lighten their load.

Now they finally realized, too late, that I was truly cutting ties with them for good.

Evander, usually so composed, completely lost it. He grabbed my hand, using it to hit himself, oblivious to everything around us. “I’m sorry, Valeria. Hit me. Hit me until you feel better.”

“Let’s go back to how we used to be.”
