My Mother Cut Me Apart For My Sister Chapter 09

My Mother Cut Me Apart For My Sister Chapter 09

Mom grabbed Chloe by the front of her shirt and shook her.

“Tell me. Right now. Is it true?”

Chloe said nothing.

Mom slapped her across the face.

“You monster. That was Stella. How dare you.”

“What is wrong with you? What kind of sick, twisted mind does something like this to her own family?”

Chloe, silent until now, exploded.

“Don’t you dare act like the victim! This is YOUR fault!”

—

“You KNEW I was framing Stella —- every single time and

you backed me up anyway! You stood right beside me and helped me tear her apart! Every time I got away with it, I pushed harder. You taught me there would never be

consequences!”

“You set us against each other on purpose! You wanted us at each other’s throats – don’t pretend you didn’t!”

I stared at Mom, willing her to deny it. I’d always thought Chloe was just easier for her to believe. I’d never imagined

she’d done it on purpose.

But Mom just sobbed. “Stella was naturally gifted at

everything–I just wanted to push you to try harder, to make you compete, maybe take her down a peg so you’d stand a

chance…”

“How was I supposed to know you’d take it this far? That you

hated her enough to KILL her?”

Chloe sneered. “There’s no going back from what I did. And I don’t regret a second of it.”

“But you, Mom – I hope I never see your face again. Not in

this life. Not in the next.”

They took Chloe away. Life in prison. No parole.

The second it was clear she was going down, her management company dropped her overnight.

To avoid being dragged down with her, they handed their

internal files over to the press–years of evidence showing

how Chloe had systematically framed me while playing the

victim. A ruthless PR pivot to clear their own names.

The internet exploded:

[WHAT. Stella’s entire reputation was manufactured?? Chloe

was the villain this whole time??]

[I KNEW IT. Chloe was shady from day one

years and nobody listened!]

I said it for two

[So Stella really did go to Pine Ridge to teach… all of that was

real…]

[I didn’t want to say anything before, but I have family in Pine Ridge. They all say Stella was the best thing that ever happened to that place.]

I closed my eyes and let the tears fall. Why does the truth only come out after you’re dead?

I was a good kid–straight A’s, never got into trouble, never

hurt anyone. When I broke into the industry, I treated the

crew with respect, I stood up for the extras no one noticed. I

never had anything to be ashamed of.

The sunlight through the window grew hotter, so fierce it nearly burned through me.

I should’ve had a whole life ahead of me. Instead, they didn’t

even leave me in one piece.

After it was all over, Mom fell apart. She left forensics. She

couldn’t hold a scalpel anymore–every time she tried, all she saw was me on the table beneath her hands. She’d spiral into panic attacks, eventually trying to turn the blade on her own

wrists instead.

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry, Stella. Mom did this to you.” Her voice was ragged. “I’m coming. I’ll come be with you, okay?”

Mom. You don’t need to come. I won’t be waiting for you.

The sun rose and set. Weeks bled into one another.

On the longest day of the year, I felt myself growing lighter. The pain – all of it, every phantom ache – dissolved like fog in sunlight.

A blinding white light swallowed the darkness. I drifted toward it without thinking.

Then warm hands caught me – several pairs, large and steady

and joyful voices surrounded me:

–

“She’s here! It’s a girl!”
