Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 08

Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 08

As the plane slowly took off, I sat by the window, lost in thought.

The buildings outside grew smaller and smaller until they were just blurry specks of light.

I felt no sadness. Instead, there was a light sense of release.

Like finally pulling myself out of a place where I never

belonged.

I had wanted to leave the Ravencrest Pack since I was a child.

Because I knew early on that in the eyes of Orion and Isadora,

Selene and I were never the same.

I even wondered if I might have been switched at birth.

But the truth was simpler than that.

I was their biological daughter.

And that’s precisely why their favoritism was so hard to

explain.

They didn’t get me wrong.

They just… didn’t love me.

My very birth seemed like a condition, an accessory to

Selene’s existence.

Sometimes I thought, if Selene hadn’t needed cord blood, I probably wouldn’t have been born at all.

As for Zephyr, I once thought he would be the exception.

He was the only one who had ever been truly gentle with me.

I fell for him not because he was the Alpha heir, but because of that feeling of being “chosen” that I so mistakenly believed in.

But later I realized, it was all just a misunderstanding.

Now, he believed Selene.

And nothing I said would ever matter to him.

The plane hit an air pocket and jolted slightly.

The wound on my back throbbed with dull pain, and I winced

instinctively.

The injuries from the crash had mostly healed, but since that time I nearly drowned in the fountain, I had become very

sensitive to the cold.

Even air conditioning could make me shiver.

I pulled my blanket tighter, but the chill still seeped into my

bones.

Just as I was about to ask the flight attendant for another blanket, a hand reached over, offering its own.

I blinked, surprised.

“I don’t need it.” The man’s voice was clean.

He wore a white shirt and a surgical mask, so I couldn’t see his

face clearly, only a pair of deep–set eyes.

I took the blanket. “Thanks.”

Wrapped in the extra warmth, the chill started to recede.

And with it, exhaustion washed over me. Before I knew it, I

had fallen asleep.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we will be landing at Valoria International Airport in approximately 30 minutes…” The

announcement woke me up.

I opened my eyes, a bit disoriented, and realized I had slept for a long time.

Getting off the plane, retrieving my luggage, walking out of the airport. Everything went smoothly.

I glanced at my phone. The time was earlier than expected.

The screen was still blank.

No messages. No missed calls.

I was used to it by now.

Even if I disappeared from the Ravencrest Pack, no one would

come looking for me.

I turned off the screen and put the phone away.

Standing outside the Valoria airport, I felt, for the first time, truly quiet.

No Selene. No Zephyr. No “me who had to be chosen“.

The past could stay in that pack.

From now on, I was just Nova.

No looking back.

After landing, I rented a new apartment.

I had just finished unpacking when my phone rang.

I glanced down. An email notification.

Sender: Selene.

I opened it.

A few photos popped up.

She was wearing a white fishtail wedding dress, smiling

sweetly at the camera.

Zephyr stood behind her, his expression tender, almost indulgent.

More photos followed. The diamond ring. Group shots with

Orion and Isadora.

My grip on the phone tightened slightly.

Then, I let go.

I knew what she wanted.

She just wanted me to see that Zephyr belonged to her now.

Under the photos were a few messages.

[This is the final dress I picked. Isn’t it beautiful? I actually liked another one better, but Zephyr said this one suits me more, so he bought both.]

[The ring too. I said it didn’t need to be so big, but he insisted.]

[We wanted to invite you to the Mating Ceremony, but Zephyr didn’t want you there. He said it’s a happy day and he didn’t want to see you. Mom and Dad also said they didn’t want to

see you, so we didn’t notify you.]

[We’ve already formed the mate bond. You should let go now.]

[From now on, remember this: the only person by Zephyr’s

side is me. Your past with him ends here.]

I read the words, perfectly calm.

I could even imagine the expression on Selene’s face as she typed them. Triumphant, yet deliberately sweet.

I didn’t reply.

I just closed the page.
