Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 07

Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 07

I didn’t think I would wake up.

When I opened my eyes, the sharp smell of disinfectant filled

my nose.

I lay in the healer’s den for a long time before my consciousness fully returned.

The healer was checking me over, a hint of relief in his voice.

“We fought for over ten hours to pull you back from the brink. I’m glad you’re awake.”

I moved my dry lips, my voice a hoarse rasp. “Thank you for saving me.”

The healer paused, as if he wanted to ask something, but in the end, he said nothing.

“Was the person who brought you in that day your family?”

I was silent for a moment, and he sighed and left without another word.

For the next two days, I stayed alone in the healer’s den. No

one came to see me.

On the day of my discharge, Orion and Isadora finally showed

  1. up.

They weren’t there to check on me. They were there to deliver

a message.

“The Mating Ceremony is tomorrow. Since you agreed to leave, be gone before the ceremony starts.”

I nodded.

They visibly relaxed.

“For Selene’s happiness, just bow out. Once they’re settled

and have a pup, we’ll bring you back. We’ve transferred money

to your account. Live well in Nocthaven.”

With that, they hurried off to find Selene.

I watched them leave, then tore up the plane ticket to

Nocthaven they’d given me.

Then I booked a new one. To Valoria.

They wanted me gone. Fine.

But I would do it my way.

I would leave, but I wouldn’t be packed off like cargo.

After leaving the healer’s den, I went to see a lawyer and

signed a legal declaration severing ties with my parents.

After signing, I put the papers and a tape recorder into a box.

It was a recording I’d made at the pack house. Zephyr’s voice, reading me stories.

I’d asked him to listen so many times. He never did.

Now, it didn’t matter.

All night, the pack house buzzed with preparations for the

Mating Ceremony.

I slept very lightly.

At dawn, I loaded my suitcases into the car.

Just as I was about to leave, I ran right into Zephyr.

He was dressed in a sharp suit, looking handsome and grand. My wolf, however, felt strangely numb.

Zephyr paused, looking at the car behind me, frowning. “You don’t need to attend the Mating Ceremony today. Just stay home.”

I knew. They were afraid I’d ruin the ceremony.

I shook my head, handed over a carefully prepared gift box, and spoke calmly. “I’m not going to your Mating Ceremony. I won’t disturb your happy life anymore. Congratulations. Goodbye.”

Then I turned, got into the car, and closed the door.

Zephyr watched the car start, his heart pounding erratically.

He had an urge to call her back, to ask where she was going today.

But before he could speak, Selene, in her white veil, called out to him. “Zephyr, carry me!”

Through the rearview mirror, I saw him casually toss the box to a beta, turn, and lift Selene into his arms with a smile,

cradling her like a princess.

The car slowly rolled out of the pack house grounds. I lowered

the window and threw my phone out.

From now on, the Nova of the past was dead.

And the new Nova would have a brand–new future.
