5 Years of Love Was Just a Disguise The Alpha’s Revenge Was Real Chapter 04

Back when Steven and I were still going strong, my mom showed up one day. She pressed a thick envelope of cash into my hands and begged me to leave the pack’s territory.

Then she told me something I was never supposed to know.

Emma Voss — Steven’s mother — had set the whole thing up herself. She was the one who orchestrated the affair between my mom and Julian Voss, Steve’s father.

Julian and Emma’s marriage was political — a union for the pack, nothing more. There was no love between them. Pack stability and the succession laws Steven’s grandfather left behind demanded they keep up the act — the perfect Alpha pair.

Emma broke first. She paid my mom to seduce Julian.

Then she faked losing her wolf, faked the coma — all of it staged.

The truth was that Emma had left Silvermoon years ago. She’d been living with her real lover in the Bloodmoon Pack, and they’d had twins together.

I’d kept all of it buried because I couldn’t stand the thought of hurting Steven. In the end, the only person it destroyed was me.

Everything went black.

When I came to, I was in a hospital bed. The sounds reached me before anything else — a man and a woman, unmistakable.

“You like that, baby? Tell me how good your alpha feels.”

“Louder. Let me hear you.”

Two bodies were tangled together on the private suite’s sofa.

I turned my head, and my whole body went rigid the moment I saw who it was.

“Steven — Lydia’s awake. Maybe we shouldn’t—”

“So what? You’re my mate. She’s just the other woman. Go on, baby. Show her who I belong to.”

Steven laughed softly and pulled Amelia upright, his arm loose around her waist. His bare chest was covered in hickeys and scratch marks.

“So the pup’s gone.”

“Good. Don’t try a stunt like this again.”

Steven smirked and lit a cigarette. He took a long drag, walked over to the bed, and blew the smoke straight into my face.

“You have no idea how exhausting it was — the act. You always had those sensitive lungs. I gave up smoking around you just to sell the whole devoted-boyfriend routine. But the game’s over now. So it doesn’t matter anymore.”

The smoke clawed down my throat and I choked, lungs seizing. Tears spilled before I could stop them.

“Lydia, Amelia and I are having our mating ceremony today. I came all the way here just to invite you personally.”

He turned toward the door and barked at the guards outside.

“Get in here. Take her to the ceremony.”

The door slammed open. Guards poured in and dragged me off the bed.

The fresh stitches across my lower abdomen tore open right there. The pain nearly knocked me out, but they dragged me into the car anyway.

The ceremony was already in full swing when they hauled me through the doors. Every head turned.

“Steven, you actually brought the mistress’s daughter? That thing you promised last night — still on?”

His friends looked me over the way you’d appraise something at an auction, grinning the entire time. I went still. Steven laughed.

“Of course it is. Lydia’s not my mate — never was. I’m done with her. You guys want her? She’s yours.”

The words detonated inside my skull. Every drop of warmth drained out of me. I stared at him.

“What did you just say? Steven — what are you saying?!”

The sound that came out of my throat was barely human. I lunged for him.

One of his friends caught me from behind, arms locking around my body.

“Hahaha, appreciate it, Steven. Honestly? I’ve had my eye on her for years.”

His hands on me sent a wave of revulsion through every nerve.

I thrashed in his grip, screaming, trying to scream the truth about his mother — that the coma was a lie. A hand clamped over my mouth.

“Steven, we’ll take her upstairs to the suite!”

They were already dragging me out of the hall.

I couldn’t see through the tears anymore. Through the blur, I saw Steven’s profile — stone-cold, not even looking my way. My fingers blindly hit speed dial on the phone I’d refused to let go of.

A broken smile twisted across my face.

“Steven, you’re going to regret this.”

A few minutes later, Steven and Amelia’s mating ceremony officially began. The officiant had just told the Alpha to kiss his mate.

My mom, Isabella Carter, burst through the doors, phone clutched in her hand.

“Steven, you hated the wrong woman! What happened back then — it wasn’t what you thought! Your mother was never in a coma! She left for the Bloodmoon Pack to be with her lover!”

Steven froze. His head snapped toward Isabella. He hadn’t even gotten a word out.

A body plummeted from the balcony above.

“Steven — you told us to have some fun with the mistress’s daughter. But she… she jumped.”
