5 Years of Love Was Just a Disguise The Alpha’s Revenge Was Real Chapter 03

I woke up on an operating table. The room stank.

Steven’s voice cut through the haze, flat and cold.

“Get rid of the pup. Make it quick — I need to get back to my mate tonight.”

I tried to fight, tried to force the words out.

“Holy shit — first time anyone’s rolled up to this dump in a luxury car for an abortion!”

“Her man said she was just his side piece. Said a place like this was all she deserved.”

They both laughed, the sound ugly and sharp.

A blade of pain ripped through my lower belly.

“God, I can’t stand homewreckers.”

“And here I was feeling bad for her. Don’t be gentle — she needs to learn her lesson.”

The anesthesia wasn’t working. The pain kept climbing, and a scream tore out of me before I could bite it back.

Someone shoved a rag into my mouth — it tasted like grease and rot.

“Shut up, filthy homewrecker. You don’t get to scream.”

The woman snarled it, then dug her nails into my chest.

I flinched away, gasping, and that’s when I heard Amelia’s voice outside the operating room — fighting with Steven.

“Steven, you went too far this time! How could you send Lydia to a place like this?! I’m the one who couldn’t stay away. I came after you on purpose. But I never meant to hurt her. I just wanted you — even if I only got one night…”

Amelia was crying, her hand on Steven’s shoulder. She turned toward the operating room like she meant to come in.

Steven caught her arm, pulling her back, then dipping his head to murmur against her ear.

“Hey. You’re my mate. Lydia’s nothing — just the other woman. A place like this is exactly what she deserves. Don’t make a scene. You know I don’t like that.”

That last line had teeth.

Amelia stopped. She turned back, rose on her toes, and kissed him.

“Don’t be mad. I’m sorry. Tonight I’ll make it up to you. Whatever you want…”

From the operating table, I could see them perfectly through the glass.

Something in my chest split open, and all the air left my lungs. The cold was pulling me under.

The edges of everything started to blur.

“What’s happening?!”

“She’s hemorrhaging!”

“Get the guy who brought her in here — now!”

The voices were right against my ear now, frantic. I turned my head toward the glass.

Steven was already gone.

Why wasn’t he here?

“The bleeding won’t stop! Call 911!”

The monitors were screaming, every alarm going off at once. Memories tore through me in jagged flashes.

I didn’t know how much time had passed before the sound of sirens reached me.

“Go, go, go! Get her on the stretcher!”

“What the hell was she doing at a place like this for a procedure? Was she trying to get herself killed?!”

A paramedic swore under his breath, hands working frantically to push an IV line into my arm.

“Who’s your emergency contact?!”

Another paramedic grabbed my phone, unlocked it, and dialed the contact saved as [Darling].

The line picked up, and the unmistakable sounds of a couple having sex poured through the speaker.

No one in the ambulance said a word.

“Miss? Is there anyone else we can call?”

“Miss?!”

The call was still connected, still playing. My eyes burned, but nothing came — I was past tears.

I dialed a number I hadn’t touched in years.

“Mom… I messed up.”
