You Want Me Back? Sorry, Request Rejected Chapter 13

Calvin’s brows unfurled when he heard that, and he started to walk toward Elise. But right then, Regina shouted, “Daddy, Sabrina fainted!”

Calvin stopped and whirled around, hurrying back toward Sabrina.

The hospital staff and the police soon arrived, and the crisis was wrapped up in no time.

“That woman found out that when she was almost due that her husband was sleeping with her best friend. Their older daughter even helped them keep it from her. She got so worked up that she lost the baby on the spot. Her mental state’s been off ever since. No one knows what set her off today…”

That was what Elise learned from the hospital staff when she later woke up. The crazy woman’s insanity had been the last straw that broke her.

Elise bit her lip. “I don’t have the right to decide whether to press charges. The man who saved me is the one who got hurt. You should be asking him what he thinks.”

“Thing is, he already left. He told us to check with you on how to handle it,” the staff member explained.

Elise hadn’t expected that. Her eyes drifted to the note by her bed, and she spaced out for a second. “Have her focus on getting her treatment first.”

Jordan was already gone, but he’d left his contact info behind. She picked up the slip of paper and saved the phone number in her phone.

When she checked her messages, she saw one from Calvin. “I’ll let the matter with the pajamas go.”

Her lips twitched as she deleted the message. Then, she saw that the gossip section’s entertainment headlines were going crazy, frantically pushing the day’s trending news.

“Breaking! Sabrina Quill Named Permanent Face of Fulton Group’s Brand”

“Fulton Group’s CEO Spares No Expense to Create Sabrina Quill’s Workplace Reality Show Debut”

“Sabrina Quill Rushed to the ER! Calvin Fulton Calls Every Top Specialist in Town in the Middle of the Night”

Mixed in was a short clip of a reporter’s interview with Calvin. He said, “What I owe her, I’ll repay a thousandfold.”

Elise’s gaze flickered when the video ended. Right after the incident with the crazy woman, Calvin had immediately transferred Sabrina to another hospital, terrified she might suffer even the slightest harm.

Fulton Group had never had a celebrity brand ambassador before, yet it was now clear Sabrina would be their lifelong spokesperson. And a workplace reality show… Calvin had always kept a tight grip on everything work-related, yet he’d agreed to let a reality show film inside the company headquarters for Sabrina’s sake.

This was the first time he’d gone all-in for someone like this. She really was the woman who held his heart, wasn’t she?

A colder edge crept into Elise’s smile. It looked like Calvin and Sabrina would soon be getting their happy ending. She only thanked her lucky stars that she’d woken up from this dream in time.

She quietly let out a breath of relief and took out the already-drafted divorce papers from the drawer. Then, without the slightest hesitation, she signed her name.

The next day, Elise contacted a local courier to send the divorce agreement to Fulton Group’s headquarters. Calvin would understand as soon as he saw it.

This marriage that had started as a mistake was finally coming to an end.

Elise called Jordan’s number, but it was his secretary who answered. When she found out he’d been transferred to a private hospital across town, she decided to visit him in person.

Before leaving the apartment, she made a pot of nourishing soup. She also took down a freshly pressed suit jacket from its hanger to bring along.

Sabrina had been transferred to Crestwood Hospital. She was taking a nap after lunch, and the twins had curled up and fallen asleep in the hospital room as well.

Calvin finished his cigarette on the balcony, his eyes drifting back toward the room. On the phone, Evan was giving a report and brought up the crazy woman at Halston Central Hospital.

Calvin crushed the cigarette butt and said coldly, “Even if nobody is pressing charges against that crazy woman, I am.”

The image of Elise cornered against the wall, looking so small and helpless, flashed through his mind. His gaze darkened. “By the way, arrange a transfer for her. Move her to this private hospital.”

Evan thought he’d misheard and asked carefully, “Sir, who do you mean?”

“Elise.”
