You Want Me Back? Sorry, Request Rejected Chapter 12

Sabrina paled. Off to the side, Regina and Rowan 

didn’t look much better. 

“That’s enough!” Calvin’s face was like ice as his cold gaze fell on Elise. “Is it really that hard for you to apologize, Elise? So hard that you resorted to 

egging on a child to stand up for you?” 

Elise met his gaze without backing down. “What exactly did I do wrong? Am I wrong for spoiling my children, or am I wrong for not immediately 

showing up to stop my husband from bringing hist 

mistress into our marital home and letting her wear my pajamas?” 

Calvin’s eyes filled with disappointment. “When did 

you become this aggressive and unreasonable?” 

She smiled bitterly. Aggressive and unreasonable, 

huh? So that was what he thought of her. 

If she’d been the one with the allergic reaction, 

would he have even come to see her? No, he 

wouldn’t have. He only thought she was being 

unreasonable because she wasn’t the one he 

wanted to protect. 

She was genuinely exhausted. 

Elise lowered her eyes, her lashes trembling 

slightly. “Calvin, let’s get a divorce.” 

The moment the words left her mouth, a shrill female scream suddenly rang out from the end of the hallway. A woman in a hospital gown, her hair a wild mess and her eyes crazed, came charging at them while brandishing a fruit knife. 

“You cheating bastards! Even if I die, I’m taking you 

with me! Die, all of you! Let’s all go to hell together! 

” she shrieked. 

She rushed forward, swinging the fruit knife wildly 

at the crowd. 

The hallway was full of patients and family members who’d just gotten up and were passing 

through. Screams erupted everywhere. 

Sabrina’s face drained of color. “Mr. Fulton!” 

Calvin instinctively pulled her and the kids behind 

him, shielding them. In the chaos, someone shoved 

Elise right into the path of the oncoming 

madwoman. She stumbled and fell hard to the 

floor, with nowhere left to retreat. 

“Calvin!” Elise called out for help on reflex. 

What she saw instead was him protecting his 

beloved Sabrina. Tears welled in her eyes, which 

instantly reddened. When it came down to a choice 

between her and Sabrina, even with death on the 

line, she was always the one thrown away first. 

Calvin hesitated for a second, then reached a hand 

toward her. “Elise!” 

Rowan cried, “Mommy!” 

“Daddy, don’t go! It’s dangerous!” Regina grabbed 

Calvin’s arm in panic. 

The deranged woman braced a hand against the wall and raised the knife high over Elise, laughing 

manically. “Go to hell!” 

Elise shut her eyes in despair, a single scalding tear slipping down her face. If she could have a do–over 

in life, she never wanted to be anyone’s wife or 

mother again. She just wanted, for once, to live as 

herself. 

Just then, a cool, woody scent swept past her face. 

A lingering warmth wrapped around her, filling her with an inexplicable sense of safety. 

The madwoman’s furious shrieks still rang in her ears, and she heard the sound of a blade slicing through fabric. However, the stab of pain she was bracing for never came. 

Elise opened her eyes in a daze. A tall, unfamiliar figure stood in front of her, blocking her 

completely. He had one bare hand clamped around the knife blade. 

Even from the side, his bone structure was striking, 

and his features were deep–set. He was nearly six 

feet and three inches tall, and his face was one 

that would’ve looked intimidatingly sharp if not softened by the gold–rimmed glasses hiding his eyes. He looked dangerous, yet his presence was gentle and refined. 

Blood was already seeping through the cuff of his 

white shirt, staining it a vivid red. He acted as if he 

couldn’t feel any pain at all, though. He easily pinned the crazed woman to the floor with one 

hand. 

In the crowd, Isabel was surrounded by 

bodyguards. She cried out anxiously, “Uncle Jordan!” 

Jordan Steele glanced back over his shoulder. 

Behind the lenses, his gray eyes held a faint, 

teasing curve. 

Elise stared at him in shock, but a wave of 

dizziness crashed over her, giving her no time to 

thank him. The next second, he slipped an arm 

around her and pulled her into his chest. 

As he looked down at her delicate features, he 

smiled slightly. “Passing out already, you little 

coward?” 

Not far away, Calvin felt a sudden, inexplicable 

irritation rise in his chest at the sight of Elise in 

Jordan’s arms. Had she forgotten she was a married 

woman? 

Rowan tugged at Calvin’s sleeve. “Daddy, I 

remember Mommy faints at the sight of blood.”
