Wrong Way, Wrong Mate Chapter 08

Early the next morning, a lengthy post titled The Truth Behind the Lunaris Academy Withdrawal Scandal begins spreading like wildfire online.

It is published from Lacey’s social media account.

In the post, she tearfully accuses me of being gloomy and antisocial ever since childhood. She claims that whenever people joke around with me, they’re only trying to help me fit in with the Pack.

She even implies that I’d planned to leave the werewolf realm long ago and simply used the incident as an excuse to secure a better future for myself.

“She deliberately played the victim over this prank and threw everyone else under the bus, all to hide her true ⚫ colors as a selfish friend who betrays the people closest to her.”

“Now she’s enjoying a full scholarship at AFA while I’m the one being punished by the school!”

Her inflammatory post immediately sways some people who don’t know the full story.

The comments begin filling with attacks against me.

“Even if she’s a straight-A student, does she really have to be this sensitive? Friends play a prank, and she drops out over it?”

“So she’d already found another school before any of this happened? That’s some next-level scheming.”

The moment Paxton sees the post, he calls Lacey.

“Have you lost your mind? Take it down right now!”

On the other end, Lacey lets out a bitter laugh through her tears.

“Why should I? I’m just protecting myself!”

“Paxton, why are you all pretending to be the good guys now? Weren’t you the one laughing the loudest back then?”

Paxton is left speechless.

Just as public opinion threatens to turn against me again, Nathan suddenly updates his social media

account.

He doesn’t waste time with explanations. Instead, he posts more than a dozen screenshots of their conversations.

They include messages from the group chat between the four of them, as well as private exchanges between him and Lacey.

In the screenshots, Lacey’s proposal to lock me inside the abandoned academic building is laid out in black

and white.

“Nathan, let’s lock Willow inside the old building and livestream it.”

“If she gets scared and starts crying, it’ll be hilarious.”

Nathan’s reply is right there beneath her message.

“Just don’t take it too far.”

Immediately afterward, Paxton and Zane publish a public apology video under their verified accounts.

In the video, Paxton’s eyes are sunken, and his voice is hoarse.

“I’m Willow Bellrose’s biological twin brother.”

“Everything Lacey said in her post is a lie. My sister has never schemed against anyone. We’ve ignored her

for years and repeatedly bullied her under the excuse of playing jokes.”

“As her brother, I didn’t just fail to protect her. I became one of the people who hurt her.”

The apologies from Paxton and Zane send shock waves through the online community and pack.

Even more shocking, Mom, who has always taken Lacey’s side, makes her first public appearance to address the scandal.

Her voice trembles, and regret fills her eyes.

“Willow did nothing wrong. We failed to protect our own daughter.”

Zane also publishes a brief statement on his personal account, admitting that he participated in those so-called jokes and apologizing to me for what he did.

These revelations completely shatter Lacey’s carefully constructed lies.

Public opinion turns against her almost instantly.

Netizens begin digging into her past and discover that she’d repeatedly used her mother’s early death to gain sympathy and demand special treatment at school.

Meanwhile, the lawyer I’ve hired officially sends Lacey a cease-and-desist letter, preparing to pursue legal action over privacy violations, malicious video editing, defamation, and other misconduct.

Apex Fang Academy also releases an official statement.

The school confirms that my admission is based entirely on my outstanding SS-Rank results in the warrior ranking assessment. It has absolutely nothing to do with the so-called sympathy campaign Lacey accuses me of staging.

At the new student Warrior Ranking Showcase, I’m introduced as the student who placed first in the warrior ranking examination.

The head Lycan coach steps forward and pats me on the shoulder in front of the entire faculty and student body.

“Willow wasn’t admitted because anyone took pity on her. She’s a talented student our academy went out of its way to recruit.”

Lacey’s reputation is completely destroyed.

With nowhere else to turn, she shows up at Nathan’s apartment and knocks on his door.

She’s drenched from head to toe, crying like a broken doll.

“Nathan, I did all of this because I was scared.”
