Wrong Room, Right Mate Chapter 07

Wrong Room, Right Mate Chapter 07

Three years later.

Arlo’s friend dragged him to a wolf pack art exhibition.

“Either you lock yourself in your pack house forever, or you go out and look for Nova. Your life’s been a barren wasteland,” his friend clapped him on the shoulder. “Heard there’s some good stuff here. Why don’t you pick up a gift for Nova?” The square was packed, people crowded every inch of space.

Gold jewelry, sculptures, paintings—everything was there, more than the eye could take in.

Arlo wandered aimlessly, his gaze sweeping past stall after stall.

Three years.

To find her—and to find Theodore—he’d searched almost every place he could think of.

She was gone.

Like a drop of water melting into the ocean, she left no trace.

Sometimes he wondered—after her father died, she was all alone. She had no reason to ever come back to Bloodfang Pack.

Once, she’d had him—her mate.

But he’d made her wait three years, then claimed another she-wolf and walked away.

What had he ever given her, anyway?

A fake bond, empty promises. And three long years of his mother’s cold contempt.

He’d stood by and watched her endure cold shoulders and humiliation in his own pack, and he’d never truly protected her.

He’d told himself she was strong. Just wait a little longer, and everything would get better.

Now, was she doing okay somewhere out there?

Had she… already forgotten him?

“Arlo? Arlo!”

His friend’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts.

“Daydreaming? There’s a painting stall over there—the artist’s Roselli. Wanna go check it out?”

Arlo followed his friend’s gaze.

The stall was in a perfect spot, neat and clean. A large landscape painting hung on the wall.

A crowd had gathered there, admiring the work and taking photos.

A man and a woman stood behind the stall.

The man wore a simple black shirt and trousers, a diamond ring on his finger. And the woman—

Arlo held his breath.

She wore an indigo blue dress, moonstone earrings glinting in the light.

She was walking visitors through the paintings.

Mid-sentence, she looked up and broke into a soft smile.

The girl he’d searched for desperately for three years was standing right there.

“Nova…” his wolf roared inside him.

Before he could even react, his feet had already carried him forward.

The world seemed to freeze. There was nothing but the loud pounding of his own heartbeat in his ears.

Right as he reached the stall, Nova turned around.

She saw him—and froze.

The shock only lasted a split second. Then she smiled and spoke, “Hello. Can I help you with anything?” Arlo opened his mouth, but the words stuck in his throat.

“…Nova. It’s me.”

She looked at him, her eyes blank, like she was looking at a complete stranger.

“Do we know each other? I’m sorry, my memory’s bad, I’m terrible with faces. Who are you…?”

She studied him closely, then blinked in surprise. “Alpha Arlo. It’s been a long time.”
