While Watching Drama, the Heroine Warned Me About My Best Friend Chapter 03

I leaned over the railing of the top bunk, sticking half my head out with a shocked expression. “Celia, when did you get pregnant? I didn’t even know!”

Blood was pooling beneath her. She tilted her head back and said through gritted teeth, “Vera, please come down and help me… it hurts so much…”

The old woman snorted from below. “A pregnant woman should take care of herself. Running around like that—she deserved to fall.”

I climbed down slowly. By the time I reached her, she had already passed out from the pain.

When the train arrived at the station, nurses and staff rushed in with a stretcher and carried her away.

I got off with the crowd and spotted the old woman on the platform, lugging big bags and suitcases toward the exit.

I hurried a few steps to catch up and stopped her. “Ma’am, please wait a moment.”

The old woman turned. When she saw it was me, her wary look softened. “What is it, dear?”

I smiled and said slowly, “I’d like you to be my witness. Will you come to the hospital with me and confirm that my friend’s miscarriage had nothing to do with me?”

She looked me up and down, surprised. “No way—you were so far away from her. How could she pin it on you?”

“Besides, I haven’t seen my son in years. Now that I’ve finally made it into town, I don’t have time to go to the hospital.”

I took a deep breath and held up two fingers. “If you help me, I’ll give you two thousand dollars.”

Her eyes lit up, and her feet planted on the spot. “Then this old lady will definitely help. My son can wait.”

When we arrived at the hospital, the old woman said she needed to call her son first and would come in later.

I walked into the room ahead of her. Celia’s surgery was done. She lay weak in bed.

When she saw me, she demanded with hatred in her eyes: “Vera, why did you push me on purpose? My baby is gone, and it’s all your fault!”

I was stunned, as if struck by lightning. “What are you talking about? You fell on your own—”

Erving, standing beside her, cut me off without letting me finish. “Vera, how could you be so cruel! Celia thought you were her best friend, yet you stabbed her in the back and made her lose her baby!”

The nurses in the room glared at me with disgust. “To harm a pregnant woman—that could have been two lives lost. How much hatred must she have for that woman?”

The doctor glanced pityingly at Celia, then turned to me indignantly. “Do you know how many injections she took and how many pills she swallowed to get pregnant? And with one push, you took it all away—the damage to her body is irreversible!”

Celia clenched her teeth and stared at me like a sworn enemy. “Vera, if you had a problem with me, you should have said so. I would have apologized for anything. But why did you have to go after my baby? He was just an innocent little life!”

She broke down in tears.

The hospital room door suddenly burst open, and Frank rushed in, his face full of anxiety. “Honey, how are you?”
